Lol. Is that a new freek gif, or just another time auburn fans wanted to kill Jacobs?
Whatever happened to freek?

This does allow Malzahn to say his contract will take him through a current recruits entire career. Not that that matters.

Good. I'm glad we're showing some confidence in him. Not many coaches are going to put out great results with the pressure of feeling like they're coaching for their lives.
Dudes been a HC at the college level for a total of 4 seasons. He's still growing as a HC so why not let him grow here instead of firing him after a couple disappointing seasons. Schools and fans are too quick to dismiss coaches these days. Coaches like Bryant and Bowden would have never made it in today's coaching world because it took them years to build their programs. In 4 years as a HC he's produces a conference championship 50% of the time so obviously he knows a bit about coaching. Let's see what he can do given some time. It's refreshing to see some patience and confidence in a coach for a change

1) Even the Auburn posters say that if he doesn't perform this year, he's gone even with the extension
2) Auburn folks have forever said that Gus was the real head coach when Cheese dick was walking the sidelines...after y'all fired him!
3) Coach Bryant won everywhere he went...and QUICKLY (Maryland, Kentucky, A&M , AND Alabama)
4) Coach Bowden was successful quickly even with a substandard football program.
Man, PLEASE!

If the move was made for the perception of stability with Gus Malzahn as head coach, it could help with maybe one recruiting class. Gus Malzahn could still end up fired before NSD 2017 and Auburn would owe even more in a buyout.
shite, we love paying tons of money to former coaches that aren't even there anymore so it is what it is.
Monetarily, we are continue to set ourselves up for failure.
It is all about recruiting. This one year contract extension might increase the buyout, but it makes recruiting budget worth while. Otherwise AU would be spending Big $ on recruiting and it would be pissing in the wind. It puts a end of the hotseat talk by the Finebaums of the world and it provides stability for the staff. This was one of JJs better moves. and I am one of his biggest critic.

We should never hear an Auburn fan say crap about any other current coach in the SEC West.
You say this why? Did the contract extension cause Bert to lose weight?

Depends on what level of underperforming we're talking about. 6-6, unfortunately I think he gets another year. 3 or 4 wins, he gone.

What got Perkins, Curry, Dubose, Fran, and Shula run out of town?
The thing that got Gus an extension. Mediocrity

quote:For once, we agree. I'll swear that I'm not trolling when I say that, for the life of me, I can't rationalize this move. Hell, recruits aren't totally stupid. They'll be watching how next year plays out to see if Auburn's in future trouble. Besides, enemy recruiters will be all up in their ear about the situation.
Jay Jacobs can go frick himself.
We deserve to fail.
If anything, shite like this almost plays as a negative.

None of them played for a NC as a HC.

yup. It really doesn't do much in terms of buyout, when Aubbie wants him gone they'll pay no matter the cost.
Posted on 6/6/16 at 6:07 pm to coachcrisp
Recruiting must be going worse than we thought

Do you realize one of those conference championships was at Arkansas State?
He's going into his 4th year at Auburn with no QB, no defense, and a clueless coaching staff.
Auburn fricked.
