Oh, we're doing this whole thing again? Like last year?

Our pass defense - between pass rush and DB coverage - is good. It's not going to shut LSU down, but it's better than most teams you have played. Probably all, considering Florida was without their 2 edge rushers. Our susceptibility is when our LB are forced to cover, and my guess is LSU will find ways to make that happen, though I'm guessing we don't have guys like Lee out there covering very often in this one.

I know we'll give up passing yards because LSU has a great QB and great WRs. I'm ok with that, it is what it is. I'm much more concerned about CEH adding to that because I don't trust our run defense very much at all, especially against a guy who can jump cut like CEH.

What’s their health situation moving forward?

The early timeline on LaBryan Ray had him back for LSU, but we really haven't heard anything else on him since then. So that is pretty up in the air until we hear anything else.

Other than Ray, we're "healthy" in the front 7 (counting the guys we've had since day 1, obviously no Moses/McMillon).

I just don't think we're gonna see Lee much in this game.

This isn't "last" year.

And I agree with you it should be a great game.

But this whole it doesn't count because look at the opponents is VERY last year. No, LSU isn't the same team as last year. But going back to the same ole "we're tested Bama ain't" and "well look at those stats they don't count!" and "well advanced stats may say they take schedule into account but I don't believe them" is very last year.

Our pass defense is good. It isn't going to shut people down because that isn't how football is played anymore, but it doesn't screw up coverage, doesn't get beat deep and is decent at playing the ball (Diggs better than Surtain). They are talented and experienced back there outside of Mayden/Battle. And Lewis is healthy and a monster. However, if LSU is clicking it doesn't really matter how good your DBs are - it's going to be hard to stop them.

Auburn's defensive line is much better than ours.

Auburn is a much better run defense than we are.

Our pass rush is probably slightly better than there's now that Lewis is healthy, but that's from the outside not the interior like Auburn's.

Our secondary is much better than Auburn's.

So would y'all compare better with Florida's D?

When their edge rushers are healthy, probably. I think our corners are better than Florida's, to be frank. Diggs is pretty universally slotted as a Top 30 pick and Surtain is in all liklihood going to be a 1st round pick in 2021.

But yea, strength/weakness wise we are probably more like Florida than Auburn. We're softer in the middle than normal (DT/ILB), but as good or better in the back end and on the edges.

Those stats are against average to below average talent A&M, Duke, AR, Tenn, etc.

So you're saying the QB/WR your DB/S are facing, their talent level doesn't matter? New concept to me!

They were without one edge rusher

The other, Zuniga, played for nearly 3 quarters, was a non-factor, then got hurt and left.

And we held them WELL below their averages.

Texas A&M YPA : 7.2
Texas A&M YPA vs Alabama : 6.3
88% of yearly average

Arkansas YPA : 6.2
Arkansas YPA vs Alabama : 4.1
66% of yearly average

South Carolina YPA : 5.9
South Carolina YPA vs Alabama : 5.7
97% of yearly average

Tennessee YPA : 7.9
Tennessee YPA vs Alabama : 4.9
62% of yearly average

Ole Miss YPA : 6.9
Ole Miss YPA vs Alabama : 6.6 (half of it against the 2nd string)
96% of yearly average

Southern Miss YPA : 9.8 (#13 nationally)
Southern Miss YPA vs Alabama : 6.7
68% of yearly average

So yea, it matters, but it also matters that we've held almost every team we've played to their lowest or 2nd lowest passing output of the season. And almost all of those games include 20-25% of the game in which our 2nd/3rd string are out there.

Zuniga was pretty clearly trying to play through an injury and couldn't. We know, that's how Lewis was earlier in the year and he didn't really do much. Then he finally got healthy and now he's unblockable.

It's not why Florida lost or anything, but they clearly aren't as good on defense without 2 healthy rush ends. Still a good group and LSU shredded them, but not nearly as dynamic.

Yes - and then re-aggravated it

Zuniga has been hampered by the same injury going back to the Kentucky contest in Week 3. He returned to the field against LSU, but exited early as he had reaggravated the injury.

It's not some sort of slight and it isn't a damper on what LSU did.

Lewis will be the best edge rusher LSU has seen this year. I'm sure they'll have a plan for it, so it'll be interesting to see the chess match.

With all that said,

Who/How does AL cover CEE, Harris or Lee? I'm asking.

I'm guessing that Lee isn't on the field a whole lot, given LSU's personnel packages and how we generally match those. We will either have 5 DBs on the field or Harris and Jennings/Benton. There has been talk that we've been working on some specialty packages that probably look a little like what Auburn did with the 3-1-7 look on Saturday. Normally I wouldn't think we'd do that, but we have more safeties that we trust and tackle well than we do ILB that we trust.

I'm honestly not sure what they are going to do. I'm not looking forward to it, because bottling quick backs up and covering them out of the backfield is not something we've been particularly good at.
