Probably regurgitating what a coach told him because Nick Marshall isn't playing QB in the NFL.

That's kinda the point of this whole thread. He can win lots of ballgames, but he's not getting people ready to be productive in the NFL.

You are an idiot.

Are there any QBs currently in the NFL that were coached by Gus Malzahn other than Cam?

Huge sample size you're talking about. BTW, it'll probably grow by one whenever Johnson finishes his time at Auburn.

Gus would rather climb a razor blade mountain than play a game that turned into a defensive struggle. He doesn't give two sh*ts about defense and never has. His ticket to a college coaching job was his disdain for defense. He used a Rugby philosophy to speed up offenses never intended for american football. Now the NCAA is allowing him to use the same unwritten rules to handicap defenses. It's ruining college football and not preparing kids to play NFL defense.

Sounds to me like Gus is doing exactly what he is paid to do.

Score points.

You're probably right. Johnson looks good.

That has vocalized it. I guarantee you he didn't arrive at that perception on his own. And if he did, you can bet others have, too.

And I"m sure that opposing coaches have nothing to do with this perception. Petrino and Saban and Richt all say whatever they can to get a recruit. There is no basis to this perception that doesn't also exist with many of the others. Outside of Saban developing defensive players, the others don't have anything on Gus for development. Like it or not, much success in the NFL is due to natural talent, not development per se.

And it must suck for Richt to have as little success in his win column as he does in his NFL development legacies.

IDK... He's put a bunch of NFL starters in the league on the offensive side of the ball too.

7 players?

Julio
Ingram
Lacy
Carpenter
Smith
Warmack
Fluker

Or are you going to spin this into starting one game = NFL starter for Alabama players but Auburn players have to be current starters to be considered ITT?

It was to point out that there is a perception among recruits that Auburn doesn't develop players for the NFL - particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

There's no perception of this at all other than one kid (and you saying this). Can you provide us with a link showing some evidence of this perception?

Lets look at the qb's he has had while at auburn... Chris Todd, barter trotter, Clint Mosley, Kiel Frazier, Nick Marshall and cam newton.... There is one player on that list that had nfl talent, none of the other would have ever been anything more than a college qb no matter who coached them. If your bored just go back and look at how much he improved some of those guys like Chris rubber arm Todd and Nick Ebonics Marshall.

He has had QBs at places other than Auburn.

None of those made it to the NFL either, Cam is the exception not the rule.

Several other QBs he has recruited as QBs have ended up as TEs, third string punters, etc elsewhere.

Malzahn isn't a QB guru, never has been, he is supposedly a good WR coach as far as positions go.

Ironic that an ALABAMA fan would start a thread about Auburn not developing NFL Qbs. Alabama Qbs have crashed and burned worse than any other school in the modern era.

Roughly twice as many as Auburn, right?

And that doesn't include players like Amari Cooper, who will be the #1 receiver in Oakland, or Cyrus Kouandjio - who has positioned himself as a starter during OTAs, supplanting Henderson.
