Excuse my comment about fricking "flooding the market". shite, I just happened to see 3 fricking AU billboards in one day in the ATL are. I was in the exact same fricking area last week and they weren't there. I was simply making a fricking observation, excuse the use of the word "flooding". I meant nothing negative towards AU or any other fricking school.

What you probably didn't realize is the last two weeks here, gumps have been attempting to be critical and flame about the fact AU has put up some billboards in AL and GA to advertise AU. People are getting sick of bammers being asshats for no reason, hence the comments on this thread.

I've seen a West Alabama billboard before, and I've even seen one for UAB a time or two before. But never have a seen a "major" program have the need to advertise themselves on a billboard.

I haven't seen any of those schools with billboards advertising their football team. Just about every university has them to advertise the actually school.

Recruitment of students, alumni donations, etc etc through football is possible.

Thats all great, and its true, but that doesn't change the fact Auburn is the only team from a big conference advertising their football team on a billboard. Maybe they're ahead of the curve, and maybe they are really desperate.

I was simply making an observation about what I personally saw while traveling today. Nothing against AU, the boards look great BTW.

You are clueless and need to get out more and quit trying to flame and obssess about AU.
And yes, large schools like AU do advertise. Why did bama feel it necessary to pay shite loads more for multiple commercials with those numbers on the jerseys in whatever game that was at year end (either SECCG or Sugar Bowl, can't remember)?
That likely cost a LOT more than AU's billboards.
AU fans did not try to flame bama about advertising because AU is not that damn stupid.

I didn't see any billboards for LSU while I was in ATL. Does LSU plan on advertising in the same fashion as AU?

And note the bammer on this thread trying to imply something critical, desperate, or negative in general towards AU as usual.
People get sick of stupid people being stupid sometimes and the other gump in this thread is a good example.

They did a huge blitz in '07 which included Times Square (i believe), billboards throughout the southeast, and the Continental ad.
For each bowl game or ncaa bball appearance, they also buy billboards in the city in which they are playing. Usually as close to the arena as possible, or near the airport.
