So my apologies to all you bama fans. I was wrong about the 4 year scholarships.

Chizik is really on top of things down there. You would think the AD might tell him about this so he could relay it to the kids while he was recruiting. Might have helped AU land a few more yesterday.

I stand by my statement, Auburn offered one year deals. Multi-year scholarships can not be given.

because the NCAA doesn't allow 4 year scholarships?

Ouch how wrong are you? A little research never hurts.

The new NCAA rule could offer greater protection to players from getting their scholarships revoked due to how they play. It can also become a recruiting advantage because schools are permitted, but not required, to give up to five-year scholarships rather than annual renewals.
Enough NCAA members protested the rule so there will be a final vote this month. For now, the NCAA says the change is in place.

You're right, it doesn't...

Multi year scholies approved in Dec 2011, but may not stand

Yeah I was aware of that, which is why I added this in my post. Next time read the whole post before answering.

Oh, I read your entire post. I think its actually quite interesting that Auburn has jumped on the tentative multi year promise, when it might be rolled back weeks after signing this class. That would mean that they are saddled with the players signed for 4-5 years, since they signed under the multi year provision, regardless of whether or not Chiz makes it that long.

I guess ya gotta find SOMETHING to sell that program with...like KIA offering 10 year warranties.

Shouldn't it be this way with every school? This isn't the NFL you can't trade them once you sign them.

Less than two hours earlier, Florence, Ala., linebacker Beniquez Brown picked MSU. Auburn reportedly offered him a scholarship at 5:45 a.m. At his signing ceremony, he faked out friends and family by lifting an Auburn hat before trading it for the maroon of MSU.

"That was huge for us on signing day," Mullen said. "Obviously, you want to close well. Both of those two young men handled their recruiting fantastic, in how they did things and the process they went through and their communication with us and other schools as well."

No. There's already all this crying because small schools wants to compete with the big boys. Hence the scholarship reductions, reduced signing, etc etc.. Schools are acting like it's a right to win games at the expense of dragging others down to their level. Some of your fanbase has bought into this line of thinking.

I have ZERO problem with the way things were handled yesterday. Saban was hired to coach Bama football and act in it's best interests in conducting it. If he had the opportunity to get better players at the expense of letting lesser players delay enrollment, then more power to him. His job is not to weaken the program because it might hurt someones feelings. It's to have a winning program and develop players and students, once they are ON campus.

You seem really mad DA? Your team just won a NC and the #1 class. Enjoy it for a little bit bro. Don't let our KIA warranty program get to you.

That's the way it should be. It's not fair to kick kids out of school when they're halfway done with their major and have to start over at another school since lots of classes don't transfer. It's a University, not a football factory.

Funny thing is, it was a bunch of the smaller schools who voted no on the multi years saying it was an unfair advantage to the bigger schools

This just seems disastrous for Auburn. You're having a hard enough time in recruiting as it is, and now you'll be saddled with the injured, lazy, and busts. You most certainly have the moral high ground, but I can't imagine that being worth much on AU forums if AU doesn't start beating Bama again.

It could be I wouldn't know. Do a report and get back to me on that. I'm sure it would be an interesting read. TIA

All the SEC coaches voted against it too. Thank the University President's for that, and the reduced signing classes.
