No school has claimed a non AP or non Coaches poll title since the late 60's.
Auburn's trying to claim 2 of them, including one from a year when there was an organized national championship game they couldn't go to because of probation.

I hope Auburn doesn't claim them because it makes them look like they are really reaching in 1993 and it makes Auburn look desperate to claim more. I would rather win a NCs next year than claim a 100 in a row from 1900 to 2000. If I didn't watch the games they are just like stats on paper.

My personal stance is that I really don't care what they do. I will say they shouldn't claim 1993 even though that team deserves much better than what they got.
1913 I know nothing about it other than the record and stats make it hard to argue against.
1983- should easily be the champions
2004- tricky but in lieu of everything that happened that season before and since there is no doubt that team was the most deserving of any arbitrary title given out that year.

I've said before that claiming national championships has never been my thing. I have fond memories of the years and games I saw or watched. I've never walked around spouting "2 Time Nat'l Champs", and I won't ever spout "5 Time Nat'l Champs" either. frick the past, I'm ready for the future.
Hell, 2010's excitement is beginning to wear off. I'm more pumped about 2014.
All that being said, it makes for a good shitshow on here.

Eh i'll thump my chest (as much as one can reasonably do for something he had no actual influence over) for the off season, but i tend to agree. What you did once a new set of games starts getting played really doesn't matter.
Did we claim these though? As in there will be flags, in the media guide, or whatever other repository holds championships?
