Wow ....lots of jokes. Thanks for the info. I didnt know so many of you posters were such big fans of drinking and driving. Im coming down with a group that I go on a football trip with every year. I see no other way to make it happen unless there is shuttle service.

Never heard of being responsible and staying sober?

Travelling from New England to see an SEC football game and not drinking is not even close to being an option.

I'm also going to this game. Hotels are pretty much all gone. Whats better, staying in Commerce or staying closer to Atlanta? Wanted to go to Athens Friday night, but not if the drive there from where I am staying will be a pain.

hmmm, Commerce, an exit of the highway or Atl?
I guess it all depends on what criteria you use to consider better

. Good hotel options, Madison is a Historic town, good food, shopping, Lake Oconee etc...
Much better option than Commerce/Jefferson/Lawrenceville...
Thank me later...

Is Madison a shorter drive than Commerce?

these are good day, no traffic. realistic door to door game day, add a half hour, unless you are leaving real early. its hard to speed, because of all the police doing radar

Commerce and Madison are roughly the same distance (30 minutes on a non-gameday). As another poster said, Madison is far superior to Commerce.

I live in ATL and will be making that drive as well. This is advice from our trip back in 2009:
-It's best to leave first thing in the morning because traffic will suck. The earlier you leave, the less traffic you'll deal with.
You also want to get there early to get a good parking spot close to the stadium. They usually don't open the lots until 9 or 10am.
The LSU section is directly under the sun (unless you have better seats). Wear sun screen and stay hydrated. I witnessed a bunch of people getting sick (too much alcohol, not enough water).
