IN the Supers:
Alabama
Texas
Ole Miss
Georgia vs State
State vs Georgia
Oklahoma
Still playing today to get into the Supers:
Kentucky
Florida
Aggy
Auburn
If the SEC sweeps today, all eight Supers will be covered by at least one SEC team
As an aside, Go Little Rock, beat the Gators !!

But the SEC is overrated, they say.

Feels so weird to be on the outside looking in at this.

Aggie only has one starting pitcher, no middle relievers and a closer
Our journey is done even if we bat our way past USC tonight

I had it, on good authority, that the SEC was getting smashed.

Doesn’t make sense why they say this.
SEC schools are located in the baseball recruiting grounds.
If anything, the California schools should be disappointed with that talent in their backyards.

A lot of that talent (or at least the ones that procreate it) has moved to Texas and Florida. While UCLA and USC dominated, the talent pool in California was so massive that even the smaller schools (Fullerton and Pepperdine won titles in the 90s) benefitted.
That plus traveling cross country becoming more commonplace, has shifted the power of baseball, and now softball to the SEC states.
Before Georgia won the first SEC title in baseball in 1990, only two schools East of the Mississippi won it from 1963-1989 (Miami and Ohio State)
Before Alabama did the same in softball in 2012, only one (Michigan) had ever won it. The Pac 12 had won 24 of the first 30 national championships, and Fresno State and Fullerton won 2 of the other 6.

Yeah gotta admit it’s weird not seeing LSU on that list.

That’s crazy. I’d always just assumed SEC was always strong in baseball. I know LSU didn’t surge until 90’s but looking back on it, you are right that it was the teams west of Mississippi that you saw (USC, Arizona St, Texas, and yes even Fullerton and Pepperdine)

You have to start with some pitching in order to be out of pitching.

Then Skip came, and not only took the conference, but won Omaha. And he marketed the program .... it was a lucky break really. Curly Hallman killed football, and Dale Brown got basketball put on probation, and suddenly everything sucked here. But not baseball, that was winning and going to Omaha.
So LSU's famous tailgate fans, desperate for something, started tailgating for baseball; and the rest is history. Became a big event and made a modest profit.
Other SEC programs soon copied it, as we all share the same footprint.
