Certainly depends on a lot of what happens in the other P5 conferences. But considering this could easily be a 1-2 matchup they'll both still have a great case.

It'd be pretty crazy for two teams playing for the SEC champ game could be playing again in the same building for it all again a month later.

As long as Georgia plays it close. Georgia wins than both are locked.

Only if UGA wins the SEC CG.

Some teams don't even have to win the division and still get mulligans.

They'd need help.

An 11-1 Notre Dame is getting in. 1-loss Penn State or Ohio State is getting in. 1-loss Clemson is getting in. Undefeated TCU is getting in.

It's unlikely.

Why does Bama get in regardless but not UGA? If anything UGA would have the better resume outside of that game with a win at Notre Dame.

UGA gets in over an 11-1 Notre Dame.

If Clementine does not make it, a 1 loss Miami or VA Tech gets in

Also a 1 loss Oklahoma

This will be the hard part for most to understand, but no, they don't.

It's amazing that a board full of supposedly knowledgeable football fans can't wrap their heads around the fact that the only thing that keeps an 11-1 ND out of the playoffs is 4 undefeated conference champions

No. The committee will make every effort to avoid selecting 2 teams from the same conference. It would pretty much take 2 losses by 2 of conference champions and ND for it happen.

I think a 12-1 SEC champion and a 12-1 Big Ten Champion MIGHT be above Notre Dame on the totem poll.

But that's it. 11-1 Notre Dame isn't being kept out. Even if TCU goes undefeated.

Notre Dame's schedule is good almost every year. And this year it's really good.

They'd have wins over Michigan State, Southern Cal, NC State, Miami, and Stanford. That's five teams that will likely be ranked at year's end. Three of those teams could be in the top 10 or 15. It's very likely that no one else in the country will be able to say that. And on top of that, their loss will be to a top 5-10 team.

If Notre Dame wins out, they are in. Locked in.

Actually, you are correct

3 undefeated conference champs and a 1 loss GA or AL as SEC Champ would keep Notre Dame out this year - UGA for beating them and Bama for beating the team that beat them

a 1 loss Penn St or Ohio State might also trump the Irish

My bad

It is impossible for Notre Dame to finish 11-1 and for the ACC to produce an undefeated champ.

Notre Dame plays Miami.

If Notre Dame finishes 11-1, they are in. No matter what. They would go over a 1-loss ACC champ. Even Clemson.

I wonder if it comes nut cutting time, the committee Unofficially lumps ND in with the ACC. If ND runs the table, they are the de facto ACC champ as far as the playoff goes. Unless both are undefeated, I don't see ND and the ACC champ getting in.
