I'm not an expert but I don't think this is correct. When a tide is ebbing it means it is in-between rising and falling.

My question Mark's were actually the dancing banana emoticon but it doesn't allow me to post those on here for some reason....lol
My program insider isn't concerned so I'm not. Says allegations related to this were discovered a few years ago and reported and cleared by the NCAA. Agent related stuff that could have affected eligibility if not discovered and handled quickly and properly. Amazing what finally having a really strong compliance department (unlike pre-Saban) helps in staying out of trouble...
That and running the NCAA with our protector Emmert in charge...lol

Close, it is in between high and low tide. A flood tide is in between low and high tide.
"Ebb tide is the period between high tide and low tide during which water flows away from the shore."
- Wiki
"Flood tide is the rising tide of an ocean, the opposite of ebb tide"

Yeah, way more interesting than this big nothingburger of a thread.
Hope for the demise of Alabama football in one hand and shite in the other...
I'm sick of having shitty hands.

Yes, and "aviate" is a synonym for "fly", but pilots fly airplanes, they don't aviate them.
I'm glad the discussion ITT has turned to something a bit more productive.

Look at the examples you provided:
For "Ebb" it provides the example of, "The rocks were revealed by the EBB of the TIDE."
For "Recede" it provides the example of, "The flood waters had receded."
Why didn't they say the flood waters had ebbed, or that the tide had receded? Because the technically correct reference to a falling tide is ebbing, not receding.
(Waiting for falling tide reference

I’m not saying ebb isn’t the more appropriate term, it is. But your comment was:
Does a tide move back or away from it's previous position? Yes.
