His dad buys him a car in high school if he agrees to lay off the booze.

Wrong

JFF can't do that and gets thrown in jail when a Walmart security guard smells booze on his breath.

He was taken into custody for stealing batteries and the police report confirms alcohol was not involved.

quote:

Daddy takes the new car away.

Wrong

quote:

He gets arrested last year for underage drinking and giving a cop a fake ID.

Wrong, he was charged with disorderly conduct and presenting a fake ID to a police officer. Alcohol wasn't part of the charge.

quote:

A few weeks ago he gets kicked out of the Manning camp fro being drunk and not showing up.

Nothing every confirmed this, and every report that said he was drunk included AJ being drunk as well.

quote:

JFF celebrates by going out drinking that night.

And?

quote:

Next week he's kicked out of a frat party at UT.

Because he's an Aggie. Everyone throwing beers at him and throwing him out was likely drunk too.

Good post RBama. Agree with all points. We need to replace Swope.

Also, don't sleep on the running game.

I think Swope was a beast and is going to be hard to replace.

Without a doubt. Swope was a security blanket in a lot of cases and while there are positive reports from some of the freshmen, Swope did it time after time in key spots over his career. Talent doesn't necessarily mean clutch like that.

It will be interesting to see Johnny play with some different guys and see if he can play with the same level of skill and intensity he did last year.

For sure. It's not clear whether that same magic can be repeated. I'd like to believe it's Sumlin and his staff but it could have just been the right group of guys at the right time. The seniors on last year's team were pretty strong leaders and I think Sherman deserves a frickload of credit for that.

I'm afraid I still am. Roger, will you be my sponsor since you've made it thru those difficult years?

Malcome Kennedy beasted the last four games of the year. I expect him to be the "hole in the zone" guy this year.

Yup, I've said that before--he seemed to be the guy JFF found on the run more and more as the year progressed.

Beaty said he's the best "scramble drill" receiver he's ever coached. The guy just finds the holes in the defense.

I'm not trying to start shite here, I'm just curious if there's a disconnect between old farts and youngsters. When I was in school, the legal age was 18. So I have a hard time criticizing a youngster for underage (18-20) drinking whatever the law says. Do youngsters think the same? Or is the criticism of Manziel simply a convenience?

Yeah, pretty much. The 21 drinking age is pretty stupid IMO (and that's coming from someone who didn't touch a drop of alcohol until I was 23).

Just another log to throw on the Manziel-bashing fire, IMO.

As for the rest of the garbage you mentioned, since you name no names, its kinda hard to comment on.

You seriously don't know about Major Applewhite, who was screwing one of the trainers he worked for him just before his wife went into labor around the time of the 2009 Fiesta Bowl? It came to light because of the Beverly Kearney lawsuit, which should begin next month.

As for R.C. Slocum, he should have been fired in 1996 for that very incident you mentioned...but Wally Groff was basically our version of DeLoss Dodds...only without the wins.

I hadn't seen that story, MarionFlash. So you're telling me that Darren Rovell is NOT a scrupulous person of high moral character?

This dude will do anything for attention. And apparently has zero sense of when he is the butt of the joke
