agreed. The feds enter the picture it would break the case wide open because people would be compelled to cooperate. As is, there's no obvious reason anyone will.

Yeah, but JFF has until April 15, 2014 to declare anything he might have been paid. He'll be long gone from TAMU by then.

not sure about that but that does not mean others were not in the room witnessing things. they could have been friends of the QB or the uncle. Since there reportedly up to 6 of these sessions and only one on video, I am saying there could have been numerous witnesses that have nothing to do with the one in Conn. Bottom line is we don't know which is my guess what the NCAA is looking into.

Gotcha. I wouldn't hang my hopes on the Feds getting involved, not when they have corporations with billions of dollars of taxes to worry about. Besides, all we heard was the Feds were going to be all over Cecil Newton over his $180K and nothing ever came of that.

And I think I will have a steak this weekend and a beer and I will toast to your good health when I do so.

Well crap. I was going with a tofu burger but you've changed my mind If you ever get over this way let me know and I'll take you to one of the best steak places I've ever been to (and I'm old). D.B. Gibbes General Store in Learned, MS. Population 95. No I'm not kidding.

No arguments with anything you said. But I think brokers with a pretty obvious agenda who won't cooperate with the NCAA are... eh... a bit suspect. But like you said, we don't know if another sneaky bastard is already cooperating with the NCAA, so there's that.

I'm flip-flopping at the moment. Best case scenario is someone who would know comes forward and says all these brokers are lying and oh by the way, where are those 4000 items? But that ain't gonna happen. On the flipside, hard evidence comes up that absolutely proves Manziel was paid, directly or indirectly. I don't think that will happen, either. So A&M plays Manziel and every stinkin' weekend we're inundated with "questions" about Manziel before and during the game. Almost enough to make me want to watch golf. (OK, that's a lie.)

Honestly, if you want to consistantly field a competitive team in this conference, you better mix in a lot of kids that were born to fight and won't back down to anyone. You want that edge that the street gives them, you want a kid that has had to struggle to survive.

You want a few 4.0 GPA guys that walk a straight line too. But, I want badasses like Rolando McClain, Dre Kirkpatrick, Courtney Upshaw on my defense any day. Those kind of players won't ever give up, lay down, or quit on the field it's just not in their blood.

doubt much of anything will come out of this investigation. but, unless jff is on total lockdown, there is a very good chance that he will continue down his current path of stupid, self absorbed, don't-give-a-shite-about-the-team-behavior.

lock him down now...i do not want him to sit out the alabama/a&m game.

I seriously doubt any of these brokers came forward on their own

Came forward to who, though? I'm obviously biased but this has puzzled me. If Joe Schad calls you up and you've knowingly contributed to violating NCAA rules, do you spill none, some, or all of the beans to him? So far it seems to be somewhat less than "some", and I don't get it. Whether the motive is revenge or... heh... these guys have a conscience... you'd think at least one of them would be willing to share his name and cooperate with the NCAA.

It seems to be different now. I tried to file for an extension this year and they wanted a full return plus additional justification as to why they should grant it to me. Luckily, I didn't owe much so I just filed the return in April.

It's pinned so that all of the A&M bashing is confined to one thread.

The bottom line is nobody knows what the NCAA knows or what they will be able to uncover at this point.

Well, for sure Johnny knows and I'm wondering if the A&M AD, Sumlin or any other Aggie official, like Bowtie, has sat down with Manziel and told him that it is important that they know exactly what happened because if he is lieing and did take money (which only an idiot would not believe) then he is jeopardizing the school's football program, his team-mates's respect, and his coach's record.

Johnny is for Johnny. If he comes clean and tells the truth, he has a chance at redemption. If he continues with the lie, even if there is no punishment, his reputation & that of A&M's will be tarnished. So the question for Aggie fans is are you aware that A&M is confronting Johnny on this issue? And if they are not, do you think it is a disservice to the Univ? Winning football games is one thing. Dragging the school thru the dirt for individual glory and selfishness is another. Does anyone in the administration have the balls to do the right thing, because there will be other charges surface and they may not come for weeks or months. There is just too much dirt on this guy. He's a phenomenal player handicapped by his lack of control, his desire for attention, and his alcoholism.

Now ESPN is reporting that Dez Bryant will be upset if Manziel isn't suspended. Is there some kind of playbook they are following to sway public opinion?

Reminds me of the movie, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". (It's an old 1939 Jimmie Stewart movie about a small town guy that gets elected to Congress. He inadvertently upsets the big name corrupt politician's plans for political graft. So, this politician organizes a statewide smear campaign via the media to sway public opinion against Jimmie Stewart to try to get him removed from office.)

Really ahead of its time as it provides brilliant insight as to how large scale smear campaigns are conducted.

At this point is up to Manziel to stay strong and fight the doubters. If he admits guilt, or if REAL verifiable evidence is provided that the NCAA can act on, then I'll change my tune. Right now i am still at "wait and see".

Edit - Yes, I think ALL A&M fans would hope that the AD has confronted Johnny on the issue to make sure that there is no smoking gun that is just waiting to be discovered.

Since you are a fan of a conference with teams that have done the following:

Had a player murder another player and the coach cover it up, had a coach require a player to conceal his/her sexuality to keep him/her eligible to stay at that school and had a player punch his pregnant girlfriend in the jaw without consequence (Baylor)

Had a player receive money for a job he didn't attend, had another player kicked off the team for a drunken brawl and somehow managed to parlay it into a medical redshirt (Oklahoma)

Recruited a player who raped an underage girl (Oklahoma State)

Had a coach physically abuse his players (Kansas)

Had one player rape a woman while the other watched, had several players commit multiple crimes over a 7 year period, after which those who didn't start "transferred" (Texas)

Had one player basically destroy the football program and used his daddy and ESPN to do it (Texas Tech)

You should be used to this.

I m pretty sure you could go back 7 years and document this stuff for the sec..4 vandy players helped rape someone is what they are indicted for.

the number of UT players arrested

a vast number of UF players arrested while Urbs was there.

So your point is?

I think his point was, we don't need no "holier than thou" high horse lecture from a Big 12 fan. Glass houses and the like...
