Bad publicity is better than no publicity. Just ask Charlie Sheen.
I wonder how Jerry Sandusky feels about that.

The story Rovell is saying is Johnny was "devaluing" his memorabilia by all the exposure and hijinks this summer. That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
People are seeing that JFF isn't so much a great role-model as he is an irresponsible douche who would rather get drunk and party and blow off his obligations. He can't wait to get out of College Station, remember? Couple that with there being literally thousand of items he has autographed rather than a few hundred on the market and only a blind fanboy would refuse to see that his autograph just isn't worth what it once was.
quote:
Another line we heard is the Manziels put a cease and desist on Ebay to stop forgeries and the autograph brokers were pissed. So the answer to that is to tarnish their own rep and never get signatures from athletes again? No sense i tell you.
The story is that PM said these thousands of autographs were fakes and they were authenticated as being legit. If someone said you were lying about your livelihood you'd defend yourself wouldn't you?

Auburn has a beautiful campus and one of the most electric stadiums, especially at night.

Not even close to the best pyramid.

In a perfect world, JFF plays, gets humiliated at home by Bama (possibly starts drinking at halftime and never really stops), TAMU loses by double digits, goes on to lead TAMU to a 11-1 regular season record, then the NCAA hammers them and makes them forfeit their wins for the season. JFF says frick y'all, goes pro, gets drafted in the fourth round and has a Tebowesque career for a few years before getting kicked to the curb. Daddy sues the NFL because they have all the resources in the known universe.
But I haven't really given it that much thought.

That's just what the Manning camp told JFF.

Good Lord, the amount of asshurt coming out of Austin these days is almost unbelievable. Now he's an alcoholic?
His dad buys him a car in high school if he agrees to lay off the booze. JFF can't do that and gets thrown in jail when a Walmart security guard smells booze on his breath. Daddy takes the new car away. He gets arrested last year for underage drinking and giving a cop a fake ID. A few weeks ago he gets kicked out of the Manning camp fro being drunk and not showing up. JFF celebrates by going out drinking that night. Next week he's kicked out of a frat party at UT. He's only 20 years old.
If he ain't an alcoholic, he's well on his way.

Gotcha. I wouldn't hang my hopes on the Feds getting involved, not when they have corporations with billions of dollars of taxes to worry about. Besides, all we heard was the Feds were going to be all over Cecil Newton over his $180K and nothing ever came of that.

Yeah, but JFF has until April 15, 2014 to declare anything he might have been paid. He'll be long gone from TAMU by then.

I'm in favor of you having a steak this weekend despite your poor choice of which school to root for. What are weekends for, if not steak?
As far as it goes, TAMU is my favorite 'other' team in the SEC West. We share a history and share a few coaches (two we love and admire, one not so much).
As far as why the brokers are ratting him out, it has been speculated that JFF signed so many items it flooded the market and depressed their value. Couple that with Paul Manzeil suing a number of them and you might have a motive.
For all we know, there are half a dozen brokers cooperating at this point. We don't know what the NCAA knows, who they are talking to, or where it will go. The NCAA will do what it damn well pleases.
And I think I will have a steak this weekend and a beer and I will toast to your good health when I do so.

You are banking on there being no other brokers that have not come forward publicly and the ones who have not changing their minds. Definitively saying no broker will cooperate is something nobody can do at this point.
The bottom line is nobody knows what the NCAA knows or what they will be able to uncover at this point. Anyone hanging their hopes on media reports at this point is foolish.
And you may be 100% correct and everybody keeps their mouths shut and it goes no further than this. But nobody can say with 100% certainty at this point.

I don't intend to have a steak this weekend. Does that mean I will under no circumstances have a steak this weekend? How will you know if I do?
