Well now we have the motive of the brokers. That would definitely piss them off.

Does it make it less likely to be true? Not really, you should have already assumed that they were scum, and had prior records. At least I did.

it turns out the guy accusing Manziel whose name came out is a convicted drug dealer...He also gave a false statement to police back in 2009.

And for some reason you think this makes it LESS likely that he paid JFF for his signatures?

Some might make the "birds of a feather" connection here...

Um, yes? See the Duke lacrosse team case...

No shite. I'm pointing out how stupid that logic is. "This guy seems to be shady as all get out, so that probably means his dealings with JFF were on the up and up."

Makes perfect sense.

Who said it was all on the up and up?

All I'm saying is taking the word of a known liar and drug dealer isn't something I'm willing to do on faith...and I bet the NCAA isn't either.

There is a very strong chance he is making some or all of this up.

are we talking about the video that the guys at espn have seen and reported on or another video?
Wait, so you believe Joe Shad and his sources video again? So let me get this straight, ESPN has seen a video that would condemn JFF and Cam newton, yet they dont want to fork over the couple thousand dollars? Just think about that, ESPN is choosing not to show videos of the two biggest college football scandals

and now the circle is complete (LOL) BTH and BLuetuna where are you brothers? Cam Newton Comments On Johnny Manziel
By Larry Leo - Aug 7, 2013 10:32 am
Former Auburn star and Carolina quarterback Cam Newton told the Charlotte Observer on Tuesday he gave Manziel advice but declined to give specifics. According to the Observer, Newton called Manziel a "brother and said he's in Manziel's corner."...
quote:
"I hope that everything works in the best for him so that he can get back to what he likes to do and that's playing football," Newton said.

"You have to go through certain situations in life to prepare you for what's in store next. He will learn from this just like us all."

Newton used the word vulnerable when talking about college athletes.

"For any college athlete you are vulnerable to so many things," Newton said as reported by The Associated Press. "You think everybody loves you for who you are."

Newton compared it to his time in Auburn.

"When I was there at college so many people wanted from me and I wanted to give so much," Newton told The AP. "Like I would sign this and give my time and this, this and that. And nobody was looking at it through my (eyes). If you say no to this particular person you are going to be a (jerk). You are going to be the person that people look at as, 'What's up? We came out here and supported you and cheered for you and you can't sign an autograph?' Never mind that you signed 300 other autographs before. But that's the nature of the beast."

So a guy with...

A criminal record
A plead out for lying on a sworn statement to authorities
A motive

Is going to automatically get the benefit of the doubt from everyone?

It actually does make sense. A very shady individual would love to lie about having a video in order to make money. Im not saying the guy is lying or not, but him having a not so honest past make his lying for money seem more plausible does it not?

Why would he need to lie for money? If he didn't have to pay Manziel anything he should have made a fortune on the profits.

He buys a bunch of stuff to get signed, Manziel obliges out of the goodness of his heart, he makes a nice profit, and then decides...yeah this guy really helped me out so I'm going to attempt to extort a few more dollars.

That's definitely plausible...

Are you really so obtuse as to believe everything ESPN is spoon feeding you? Look at the Saints, cam newton, Rutgers, etc.... ESPN pours this crap on whether or not it is true. The truth is prolly somewhere in the middle

And you think ESPN just allows their reporters to publicly defame without sources so they can get sued? Really?

Listen to yourself. You're saying a guy with a shady past is less likely to help a player break NCAA rules than a guy with a spotless past. Think about that.

You are right, i cant think of one single case in which a person with money has tried to make more. Oh, except for the fact that every major fraud case and ponzi scheme deals with already multi freakin millionaires

Obviously. When you see a tunnel that will take you to a place where your team doesn't get throttled, you're heading in at 100 mph.

Exactly. The thing that pisses me off abou this whole situation, is it will all end up probably amounting to jack shite, yet ESPN can go make this huge ordeal without any sort of proof. Its freaking stupid, and reckless. If this turns, that they have no proof, and nothing happens, Joe Schad should be fired. Period. I can't stand how reckless these media outlets are.

Is this even an issue anymore? I haven't seen any updates on Twitter apart from Schad laying his nuts out there for a libel suit.
