I haven't read the NCAA by-laws, but I would imagine at least half of those regulations are stupid. Just because there is asinine regulation now doesn't have to mean additional useful regulation would be a bad thing. It means the NCAA should be working to make the system work better
The NCAA tried to de-regulate this past offseason and the smaller schools pushed to return to the old system... I don't think you can compensate players (or allow others to compensate) without making things an even bigger clusterfk than they already are.

In what ways has Johnny been a "douchebag"?
You should walk a mile in his shoes to know what being a douchebag truly is.

Ill agree that he has made mistakes (Manning camp), but I do not think his intentions were to miss camp. He screwed up, still does not make him a douche IMO

No he wasn't (again read the article). He still to this day claims he was not drunk. And regardless, a parking ticket is not a 'walk in my shoes' moment.

Beyond bias and just make yourself look really silly. Not sure what someone would have to do to be a douche in your eyes if his 6 months has not cemented that already. Spoiled rich kid brat douche... even Daddy all but says it.

not to get off topic... but does anyone find it a little ironic that the Aggies' desire for all things "Johnny Football" created a market for autograph brokers and could lead to their downfall?

shite really? You mean he did not mean to be a douche as opposed to all of those douches that wake up with the goal of being one? Cmon man. We are not debating whether he thinks he is a douche or aspires to be one. The debate (which is ridiculous that it is being debated) is that he is one.

He went out partying, stood up kids, got Daddy to lie about it, so the very night he could go home and party again. Yes... just an innocent mistake and so undouchey
I do love that you Aggies have sold your soul for someone: (1) Who would have rather gone to your rival if they would have let him play his position; (2) Cant stand being in College station (his words not mine); (3) avoids going there by taking classes online elsewhere, backing up his words; and (4) has multiple photos with drugs/drunkedness etc...
This is where your wagon is hitched and you fall over backwards to do everything to say 'gosh he is just a misunderstood code following Aggie'. It is just awesome!

He's a major douche for what he's done to his teammates, especially the seniors in this class. This was to be their big yr & now he's possibly shot it down before the season even starts. But, to me, even more proof that he's a selfish douche is that he was signing autographs for cash in a hotel room the nite before his team was to play bama last yr, undoubtedly the biggest game of the yr for the aggies. Not proof as in the legal sense, but it seems pretty much a fact that he was doing what he's being accused of, it's now just a matter of legal proof. As Herbie put it, this is either the wildest story of the yr...it being all a lie...or else JM is the "dumbest athlete" he's ever seen. He's thrown his teammates under the bus for cash, a little rich kid needing better more money to play with.

I know we Ags like to brag about the vastness of our fan/alumni base, but it was hardly just us creating the demand

Beyond him tweeting after getting a parking ticket, I do not think that Johnny has done anything that makes him a "douche." Maybe his over exposure in the media annoys everyone, so douche is the first thing that comes to mind...
Um..OK...all reports must be bs and he has actually been a great example for college athletes and a shining leader of the aTm team. Beyond that, it appears that he has really taken to all the honor/integrity that is such a part of being an aggie. If he truly does live by the aggie code...come friggin clean and let the chips fall where they may. Think he will do that? Is it OK for him and the university to want to cover this up? Is that what aTm is about? To be clear...I wanted him to play in Death Valley this year becuase I have a big group of guys going down for the game and he definately makes it a better game. That said...if he has been taking money and/or getting benefits above other atheletes (which is against the rules)...he doesn't deserve to play. He isn't bigger than the game and we had to learn that lesson with TM7. I actually now feel sorry for that kid considering that he came from a very bad background and really had no chance when WE made him an overnight celebrity with the "HB media" circus. You guys (SEC fans) wanted to hang him for being a dopehead but can you really say that he was worse than this primadonna JFF? He had no chance to handle that pressure and didn't have the typical family environment to fall back on. I thought JFF did but the more I read about that family the clearer this picture becomes. They have a very long history of making BAD choices.

I just assumed that aggeis were buying all this signed stuff... maybe i'm wrong about that. I just can't imagine a random CFB fan buying a signed JFF helmet or photo.

I don't hate johnny football but the kid was a douchebag. I'm judging him based on how he acts and the way he handled school. Kid thought he was above the rules and is currently plummeting back to earth.

He's a douche. I know for a fact that most of his teammates hate him off the field. Swope and him were mortal enemies off the field. Literally would not a speak a word to each other. Johnny and Mike Evans are best buds with a few if the young freshmen leaching on to them.

I do not think he is a douche.
Imagine that AJ or Mett or Murray had done the following:
1) showed up late for meetings at the Manning Passing Academy and no showed for an entire session.
2) got arrested for fighting along with a friend who had hurled racial slurs at someone
3) said they can't wait to leave tuscaoloosa, baton rouge, or athens over a freaking parking ticket
4) had their eligibility at risk for accepting money for their signatures and THEN signed a document saying they hadn't knowingly broken NCAA rules
If the QB of another team had that kind of record you would consider THEM to be a douce...but you give Johnny a pass? Ok.

Take this gem for another example:
I mean, DOUCHE BAG. Why doesn't he try walking a day in someone else's shoes, someone that's less fortunate than him. His family has money, he was the star qb at A&M, he's partying with rappers, having shite handed to him on a silver platter...and he wants to act like his life is rough?
He needs to grow the frick up and learn to be humble.

I think you are over analyzing a particular moment in which he exhibits anger. Most people do irrational things when under abnormal emotions, but I guess Johnny has to be perfect.

That's what I'm worried about. Some poor kid coming up the highschool ranks right now is aspiring to be like JFF. No...we definately don't want any other "up and comers" to think that sitting courtside at NBA, flying to Canada to hang with Drake, NBA finals w/Lebron, PA's, bodygards, signatures for cash, thinking you are bigger than your team, flashing the Rolex hanging out of your Benz, and the many things that I've missed...are OK. Walk in his shoes...give me a friggin break. The sad thing is that he now set the bar very high for others to "walk in his shoes".
"But daddy...I'm JFF and I really want that Benz"!

No, not really. He's supposed to be a role model, and he's clearly not.
He wants someone to walk a day in his shoes? I'll gladly trade with him for a day. Let's see how he handles a normal persons life for a day. No drinking, no partying, no celebraties to hang out with. Go to work, go to school.
I never said he had to be perfect, but this kid has a god complex. Not to mention, he has ZERO common sense. You don't say shite like when you're the star of a football team, and everyone and their brother follows you on twitter.
