My take is he was speaking facetiously to describe the offer as more than what he typically pays for good players and he can't understand what the hold up is.

Technically, this is incorrect. His record for 2018-19 should be 0-2 in conference and 0-5 overall (since you vacate wins but not losses).
That would make his LSU record in conference 8-12 (.400) and total LSU record 18-20 (.474).
