Hearing accusations is nowhere near enough to qualify.

You are missing the point. He stated he did not know about the accusations. He has now placed himself in the position of either admitting to lying about knowing (why would he lie?), or throw his wife under the bus and say she never told him. We get that none of this is criminal on his part, but coaches get in hot water for ethical reasons like this often

Seems that him being a shitty coach is a pretty good reason for being strongly against hiring him. Especially when shitty hires had been happening for 10 years at UT. Try to put yourself in their shoes lol.

Right, I'm not sure why some are trying so hard to take it there.

Ultimately, the Title IX threat/claim seems baseless but at best Urban’s questionable reputation is even more sullied and at worst Ohio State takes drastic action and fires him

Legally speaking I believe, as some of our SECRant lawyers have pointed out, Urban is in the clear.

Morally speaking did we really need more evidence that Urban Meyer is scum? I don't think that has been in question for more then a decade now. Its like needing more confirmation that Bert is fat or Butch Jones looks like an upset lesbian. These are established facts here.

It will be interesting to see what Ohio State does. They've cheerfully shown over the years that they are hypocrites of the highest order. This, however, could not have come at a worse time for them with allegations of sexual abuse by one of their doctors making head line news. At some point you'd have to think Urban, even with all the wins he racks up, is going to become too toxic for a university that is already floundering in horrible press coverage.

What a dumb shite.

Why was he going to such lengths to protect a fricking WR coach?

But coaches like Meyer don't get fired because of staunch university ethics. They get fired when hey commit crimes or expose the university to legal ramifications. Meyer did neither regardless of whether he was aware of the allegations or not.

Again, Briles and Petrino and Paterno were NOT fired because they made their schools feel icky. They were fired because they exposed the university to the potential for massive civil and legal litigation.

Its stupid as hell. Apparently the abuser is grandson of Earle Bruce, who many here will remember was Woody's successor at OSU. Not that it matters or that it makes it any less reprehensible, but I wonder if that is why he was protected. He certainly wasn't mega valuable as an assistant coach.

when she was 8-10 months pregnant

Biology is hard... it's ok. A typical "term" for pregnancy is considered 40 weeks... 40/4 (approximate number of weeks in a month) is 10. It's not uncommon to refer to the last week (or more for kids that are coming late) of a pregnancy as the 10th month. It's a bit of a misnomer given that 2 of the 40 weeks of a standard term are non-gestational, but suffice it to say... it's not abnormal to say that.

With all that said... frick Urban Meyer... Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

If she texted photos of the abuse all involved should have told her to go the police. She should have gone to the police immediately before involving friends. That said it's a cAtch 22, OSU reports it and fires him and she changes her mind, they face a lawsuit.

This shite as well as the UT case are just sad parts of human nature that is never going to change. People do horrible things to each other and accept them back or change their mind's all the time. Especially when large pay days are concerned.

That is what Ohio St fans are asking. Apparently they were not big fans of his coaching before this all came out.

Eh, Petrino was probably gone after he lied to the AD either way. I agree with your overall point though.

Assuming most of the information is true and can be backed up. He is going to have to face something from Ohio St IMO. Don't think it will be a firing but some type of suspension.

Nothing's happening to him. Swept under the rug.

Seems to me the Big 10 has a problem with abuse of all kinds: domestic, pedophilia, rape, molestation. That's three serious issues at Penn State, MSU, and now OSU and in each instance major power brokers tried to cover it up.

Disgusting.
