Gus: 27-13, 1 SECC, 1 NCG appearance

Auburn fans are calling for his head

Bert: 18-20 including two last place finishes in the division

Arkansas fans love him and are thrilled to go to the Liberty Bowl.

Says a lot about expectations at each program imo

Says more about the perceived directions of the programs than anything.

Says you really don't understand all the context either.

I think the thought is, one is building a team and on the rise while the other is falling

I think a lot of it has to do with Auburn just having jack **** at the QB position. They keep rolling out mediocre to hot garbage at that position and getting mediocre to hot garbage results. If Malzahn had a QB worth a darn, I think he's look much better than Bielema. We'll see how Bielema looks this season now Brandon Allen, who has been QB the whole time he's been there, is gone. Aside from LSU, it's a QB-driven game.

I get what you are saying but pretty much everyone thought Allen was trash going into the 2015 season.

It sure is turning out that way. I'm really interested to see how Allen the Second works out. We also lost some OLine too. And let's not forget the injury bug. I almost wish we had a Defense first mentality. This next year should be interesting

That's a bit revisionist.

Not saying opinions were he was going to be Heisman, but "trash" it quite the stretch

Yes, you got me, I exaggerated a little but most thought he was below average.

I was on the record as saying "frick me, not Brandon Allen", so others might not have felt as strong, but I was not a fan. Fortunately, I was wrong.

We dumped Chaney, and everything else is history.

Auburn fans move goal posts often on what they expect out of a coach and team. So does the AD and it results in these large variations that we see on the field.

I feel like both programs are going into an important year. BB is running out of time to sell the building perception. Gus is running out of time to prove he can stabilize and direct a program loaded with talent.

Interesting season ahead for both teams

They are both really good coaches. Expectations at auburn are higher of course but most reasonable fans knew that already. I'd like to see what Bert could do at a place like auburn, I really like philosophy.

And it is especially the case considering what Bama has been doing

They keep rolling out mediocre to hot garbage defenses and when they don't have a QB that suits the "Gus Bus" behind the wheel shite goes sideways real quick.

Maybe Steele will be what they need, who knows?

Bielema’s 7-11 SEC record over the last two seasons is one win better than Malzahn’s 6-12, and while neither record is coach-of-the-year material, Arkansas’ 5-3 conference record turned some heads last season. Conversely, Auburn has lost nine of its last 11 SEC games.

Bert's seat is safe. He has the program headed in the right direction. He doesn't have any off the field drama or trouble with any players. He has continually improved on the field and has the players improving academically as well. Yes, he starts the seasons slow so far, but you can see the improvement. He has both coordinators back for the first time since he has been here. That's huge for continuity, and the players will not be learning a new system either for the first time on either side of the ball. The key to this season will be the offensive line, ie How long will they take to gel? How well can they protect Austin Allen? How good is the new OL coach?

Lulz. Malzahn was still in the national title hunt in Nov of '14. Arky has never been in a natty hunt. Malzahn had one bad year, the same year Arky lost to some northern directional school, and they feel like the 85 Bears. Oh, Malzahn had a top 10 recruiting class this year, which is higher than any Arky class ever. The delusion is real with you guys.

Auburn likes to compare themselves to Bama which is pretty unfair as they aren't one of the elite of college football
