A good number of the years between 2000-2022 the SEC was a BAD basketball conference. Winning it would have been nice, but anyone who knows jack shite about college basketball knows getting to the Final Four is a SIGNIFICANTLY bigger accomplishment.
Analogy: Winning an SEC football championship MATTERS. Only four teams get invited to the playoffs currently and at least one and often two come out of the SEC and those teams are decided by the winner in Atlanta more often than not. The basketball tournament matters more to teams who aren’t even an at large tourney bid and NEED to win to get a tourney invite. Bragging about that over a final four is like a team from the Mountain West saying they would rather win the Mountain West than being a playoff team…it doesn’t make sense.

Do you even realize that only Kentucky has beaten Alabama more since '91? Before '91, Alabama was 3-7 against Arkansas.

Did you really just say you'd rather when a conference championship over making a final 4? Alabama fans are so fricking stupid when it comes to basketball. Hell most of the top programs in basketball don't hang conference championship banners. They only hang final 4, runner up and natty banners. I hope most Alabama fans aren't as stupid as the OP.

Yep. It's much harder to make a Final 4 in basketball then when a national championship in football. In basketball you're dealing with nearly 400 D1 teams, then a 68 team tournament. Not to mention the talent gap between mid majors and power 6 schools in basketball isn't much at all. Compare it with football and you're only competing against 130ish d1 teams, of which only a handful of teams will ever have make the playoffs due to the huge talent difference.

While winning conference titles signifies a good regular season (Arkansas has 30+ conference titles), college basketball programs are judged only on what happens in the NCAAT. Just as baseball programs are judged only by making it to Omaha.
Not too long ago Kentucky had an undefeated regular season…ask them if it was a failure or a success. It’s pretty simple.
