That's too bad but that's your choice just like it's Arkansas' choice not to allow y'all to march.
I have no argument with that, and definitely don't see this as some sort of weird insult to A&M. But I also think Arkansas (and apparently Tennessee and Kentucky) are depriving their fans of something worth seeing. Forget A&M - any different band. Do fans of those schools really only want to see their own band at halftime? That seems really frickin' odd to me.
That said, I have no idea whether the FTAB plans to go to Tiger Stadium (and march). I'd hope so, as you guys generally aren't morons. Mostly. Sort of.

The funny thing is he meant that to be an insult. I hope you were suitably insulted.
Oh, I know what he meant, but the whole thing looked very childish on Texas' part.

They usually honor someone during the time that would be otherwise used for the opponents band during half time, halftime is only so long.

Flagship, quit fricking with the new guys. (There I fixed it for you.)

I don't recall any SEC visiting bands ever playing in Fayetteville.
With Arkansas' policies, that's not a surprise!

We don't send our band to other stadiums.
You used to! Back when men were men and dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Say 1975 or so.

We've all already seen the Aggie band up here, dating back many years.
"Many years" is certainly correct. The last time A&M played in Fayetteville was in 1990. I'd guess most of the regulars here weren't born yet. And with the JerryWorld contract, how many kids from both schools will have never even had the opportunity to visit the other for a football game by the time we return to home/home?

And we'll see them next year in Arlington. And the year after that, and the year after that....
And both bands will be there and yada, yada, yada. I get that. I hate for your fans that don't typically travel to JerryWorld that they're missing this.
Cue the MSU fans talking about gay Aggies and their gay fake military band in 3, 2, 1,...

Shut yer foul mouth!

We're at least agreed on OSU - I've never understood the significance of dotting the I. No precision required, just run around until you get to the right place, and then the crowd goes apeshit. I don't get it. (My kid sister lives there, married to an OSU prof. I've quizzed her about it. She tried to explain and actually seemed to believe herself. I still don't get it.)
As a Corps guy I always admired the FTAB's marching precision. I always called it "excellence through torture", and I don't think that's far off. Some of the crossing patterns they make are insane and just one guy stumbling would bring the whole thing down like a house of cards, but they pull it off. I love watching them. Of course the pre-50's tunes don't hurt, either.

The coolest thing about that first video is hearing so many boos when they were introduced, followed by them getting cranked up and not hearing anything but applause. I admit I'm hopelessly biased but the Ole Miss crowd enjoyed the performance.
The coolest thing about the second video, of course, is Belushi. I'm still mad at that son of a bitch for dying.

No, they don't. No matter how much they like their own band, after you see the same show a couple of times, you've had about enough. The visiting band has ALWAYS been a part of the halftime entertainment and gives the home crowd something different to see.
I've got nothing against these folks they want to trot out, but they shouldn't bump the visiting band. They will get polite applause as 98% of the people who don't go for concessions say 'who?'
Plenty of time to honor folks between quarters or pregame.

We need to get another thread started. How can we top the douchyness of this one? The simplicity - it was brilliant.
j1897, HawgAllude - One of you guys want to start an A&M thread?

"We informed Texas A&M when the decision was made to move the series to campus for two years that we would be unable to accommodate a visiting team band performance at halftime,” Trainor said.
So after two years notice, this is now a problem.
Poor aggys not liking their place in the SEC pecking order, now they have multiple Big Bros like in the SWC instead of just Texas and Baylor like in the Big12.

I like seeing marching bands. But the truth is, most fans are taking a piss and getting a Coke at halftime.
