Yeah hate to break it to faggie but no one in the SEC gives two shits about their band and I have never went to a game thinking "Oh man I can't wait for halftime so I can see the bands play!"

I'm all for halftime being nothing but the cheerleaders from both teams (excluding A&M) having an all hands on deck-no holds barred mud fight in the center of the field. That would be entertaining as hell and would keep me in my seat.

I was in the band in a smaller college, a damn good band at that - and fully half the crowd left after the band performed at halftime. They weren't there to watch the football team.

You must have went to a HBCU...

So you're saying Kentucky's band is awful. Gotcha.
No. I'm saying that when I go to games, I go to watch football, not boring arse marching bands. Your band is nothing special. It's no different than any other band in the SEC and shouldn't be given preferential treatment.

No, Henderson St. in the late 70's.

Well, that would explain why everyone left after half time.

Showband of Arkansas?
That explains it.

Well, they have the longest rivalry in DII with OBU.
Probably one of the more unique campus locations and setups making up the Battle of the Ravine Rivalry.

I got soooo much fricking middle school action at Henderson State band camp in the early 90s. Don't worry, I was in middle school, too. When American Pie came out my friends that knew were like, "holy shite..."
Of course, I permanently fricked up my ankle playing basketball with the basketball camp guys one day. So it wasn't ALL good.

Never in a band. I have a pretty good Ken doll collection, though.

Looks pretty strong to me, that isn't some tooth pick she's holding up there.

Yep. At that time HSU and Ark Tech had the two premier band (and music education) programs in the state. Lot's of professional musicians came from those ranks as well as outstanding educators.
Sure, there were other pretty good bands, and UA's of course was 'bigger', but those in the know at that time knew which ones were top to bottom 'the best'.

Whatever floats your boat. I still think it's odd. Arkansas, Tennessee, and now we know the really big football fans at Kentucky who go to the game to watch great football rather than a band have this policy. Meanwhile the Aggie band marched at doormat Alabama and Ole Miss last year. But you guys go do your own thing, nobody can tell you what to do, dammit!

Some of us go for both. College football is an experience. I can have my cake and eat it too.
