This.

Arky will hire Leach, the fans will revolt because of Craig James, and we might have 2 houses on the same street on fire.

Whether Gus wants to go to Arkansas or not, I'm sure his agent has told Arkansas he will listen after Saturday. He will have all kinds of leverage at that point.

So how exactly can he use another school for leverage?

ETA He already knows he will be getting an extension and a nice raise.

my favs:

1. leach
2. kiffin
3. venables
4. Norvell

I think at Arkansas you need some level of quirkiness to put your brand out there. Bielema was great at getting media attention, but not great at winning. I still think he had the right idea to constantly frick with the media and other coaches. We HAVE to draw attention to ourselves for recruiting, because we don't have a lot to work with.

Because what is said in the media while games are still being played has little to do with the actual deals and negotiations. He isn't going to say anything else out in the open. I suspect he will listen if Arky wants to make an offer.

Those things get negotiated and having another offer gives leverage in negotiations.

Gus Bus is leaving the Plains and traveling northward towards the Waffle House located on West Dickson St. in Fayetteville.

Exactly. Mike Norvell is getting paid 3 million a year from somebody. Whether its Memphis (who'd of EVER thought that could happen) or Arkansas remains to be seen.

Seems like they have an understanding with Norvell and are just waiting for his season to end

This. I would imagine with this Saturday being the biggest game in Memphis football history, Norvell has asked Arkansas to keep things quiet so it will not distract those kids and take any attention away from what they have accomplished. They have had a hell of a year and it would suck for them to be preparing for a chance to go to a BCS bowl and deal with rumors and questions about their coach leaving. I'm sure it's in their heads already, but I'm sure Norvell just wants them focused on the game and doesn't want anybody accusing him of having his attention distracted as well.

That applies to both teams in Saturday's AAC Championship game. So at least it won't be "one side lost focus with coaching rumors, and got blown out" (I hope, unless the blowing out is done by Memphis and not to Memphis). I fully expect it to be both head coaches' last games at their respective schools.

Good call. Wasn't even thinking about Frost being in the same situation. I would imagine his contract to Nebraska is pretty much done and will be announced sometime after the game.
