Arkansas fans are jumping up and down about their recruiting class this year but it's merely 7th in the SEC and if LSU, UGA, UF etc...
Great point...Arky is typically in the 7-10 range as far as rankings in SEC recruiting, but the difference this year is we are closer to the top 15 nationally...That's a big difference that what we are used to and is evident that the talent gap is closing...
Arky could potentially have 3 players in the top 100 for the 2010 class and the 2011 class is just as good and maybe better overall...I think Arky HS's have been behind the curve a little bit in regards to developing talent, but with more camps, 7 on 7 and Sports Training businesses...we are starting to make a little noise.
We'll see

And someone didn't read towards the bottom of my post

They play the games for a reason....but what has Arkansas ever won in the SEC? When's the last time Ole Miss won the SEC? Congrats on beating us in a terrible year for us, but consider the fact it was your first time beating us in a 7 year span.
It isn't by accident LSU owns the series big time over Arkansas and Ole Miss.

Great post thunderbird1100. Most Hog fans are reasonable and will agree with all your points in your post. I have two coworkers, that no matter how much I try to explain some of those points, they are not capable of understanding that. They think Arkansas should be fighting for the trophy year in and year out. Nohing at all wrong with being passionate about your team, but these two need a big helping of reality. I feel Arkansas, with the right personel could go the distance, yet I feel that realistically they should win it on a 20 year interval.

The thing is the SEC simply isn't a cyclical conference. The Big 6 (As in, UF, UGA, LSU, AU, Bama, TN) are typically are the most consistently up there teams and are the teams that win the conference. The last time aa non-Big 6 team won the SEC was 1976 Kentucky. Before that? 1963 Ole Miss. The SEC, especially these days, are not kind to the teams who can't recruit nationally at the very, very top.

How so?

so let me get this straight, since AR joined the SEC in'92 the series record between LSU and AR stands at 10-7 in favor of LSU, but since '98 the series goes 6-5, and under Miles/Saban it's 5-4 between them, heck under Miles the four games they have played have been decided by a TOTAL OF 10 POINTS?!! Seems to me since we joined the this conference we've done well against the Tiggers?? Let's look at Auburn: last 11 meetings AR 6 wins AU 5 wins; how about Bama? Tide 6 wins; Hogs 5...I think the Razorbacks have held their own in the Western Division; including 2 Title game appearances this decade.
You don't make 36 Bowl appearances, with 23 BEING NEW YEAR'S DAY Bowls, including: 11 Cotton, 5 Sugar, 2 Orange, 1 Fiesta, 2 Gator, 2 Citrus and have a "cellar dweller/ mediocre football program.
Hey Tiger Fans where was your team from '89-'01?
remember Hallman and Dinardeaux?

I was wondering how others felt about the Razorback football program.
Better offense, extremely questionable defense, and a 2009 schedule that's brutal means 2010 before the Hog's record might actually improve...
Hogs's 2009 schedule:
Missouri St
UGA
@Bama
@Tex A&M (in Dallas)
Aub
@Florida
@OM
Eastern Michigan
SC
Troy
MSU
@LSU

thunderbird please explain the BIGTIME series record LSU "owns" over AR since we joined the same conference as LSU? 10-7 since '92 and 6-5 over the past 11 meetings? That's a big margin? interesting..

I think his point was consistency. You obviously missed that.
How long had it been before this year? '01?

6-5 over the past 11 meetings
2008: LSU gave Arky the game with Stupid penalties. LSU had packed it in for the season and still should have won the game. Arky wins by the grace of redneck baby jesus.
2007: Triple OT with the two best backs in college football. LSU had a TD called back for not enough men on the line. Gift from rbj for the Hogs. Arky wins
2006: LSU beat that arse on your home field with possible National Title berth on the line for the Hogs. Best back comment still applies. LSU wins
2005: LSU was beat down because they had no bye weeks due to Katrina and Rita. LSU still wins
2004: An average LSU team skull fricks the Hogs in Little Rock.
2003: LSU puts up 55 on the Hogs en route to a National Title.
2002: Arky wins on a hail mary pass and was also given a TD early in the game on forth down. The ball carrier was clearly short of the goalline.
2001: This was a good Arkansas team. I still remember this game like it was yesterday. LSU throws 4 interceptions, is begging for Arky to win this game, and LSU still comes out on top.
2000: We sucked. The last "beating" Arky has put on LSU.
1999: Dinardos last year. LSU is playing under an interim coach. LSU slaughters #17 Arkansas 35-10. Sucks to be Arky.
1998: LSU is in suck mode. we get blown out by a good Arkansas team. 41-14 if I remember correctly.
It seems to me that Arkansas has had a lot of luck on their side when playing LSU. That 6-5 record is not that impressive when you break it down. That series record could easily be 9-2.
Even you die hard Arkansas fans can't deny this.
As a side note, Arkansas is the worst SEC trip to make. These mongoloid fans make other SEC opposing fans seem like your best friends.
The crew tailgating next to us the last time I was up there had three kids in nothing but diapers. I would say the youngest one was four.
The patriarch of the tailgate had red overalls and drunkenly challenged our crew to a fight. His wife was bare foot and pregnant with another failure. It was too good to be true. I felt like this was put together for a movie and we were the only ones not in one it.
It appeared the Walton's are the only ones with money in that state. It was a depressing scene and a setback for the south. After this trip I no longer defend the south in North vs. South argument. The evidence is too damning.

yeah, I know all about luck, considering in the '05 game in BR, a 4-7 Hog team missed 2 chip shot field goal attempts, needing only one of them to secure a win in Miles first year, the final was 19-17. Or take that Holiday kick return back in '06, and hogs win that one... as I said earlier, the past 4 games, on Miles watch, have been decided by a total of 10 points, seems LSU has needed just as much luck as the Hogs lately.
At the end of the day, the numbers don't lie, they can't exert any opinion/subjectivity, the record books will simply reflect 6-5 since '98.

You Bobby Boudreux type of person, most of the LSU folks are nice people, but you have an attitude that makes you and F. Gump about the same. If you want to talk about the team, that's one thing but talking about the people of Arkansas is another. You make the people of La. look bad, and I know most of them aren't. We might have gotten lucky in some games but last year, your guys just got beat. They let Arkansas get back into the game, then win it. Skullhawk this is for you!!
