I'm an Arkansas guy living in Miz. I don't think Arkansas fans are against the rivalry because we see ourselves as superior. If we played on the reg for something more meaningful than bowl eligibility, then maybe it could be a rivalry. Playing to see who sucks the least just isn't that exciting.

Your post is ok blah blah blah

The bigger question is why the frick is your shithole institution in the SEC?

If the only thing you add is beating our Hogs in football during the lowest years of our program, you have issues.

This forced rivalry is, well, funny to us.

Another fine example of what I'm on about. I'm just curious what you think about the University of Arkansas if Mizzou is a "shithole institution" in your mind. I'm not sure if you are referring to football, because Mizzou owns the series against Arkansas and has performed better overall in the SEC. Maybe you mean academically, but Mizzou is ranked higher than Arkansas and is an AAU member so that can't be it. Maybe you mean we're not a cultural fit, but Arkansas and Missouri are pretty damn similar so that would be as much an indictment of your own schools as ours.

With Texas coming that possibility is slim to none.

One of the worst things that Arkansas did when they left the SWC was not playing Texas each year.

Arkansas really needed someone that could push them into a better program. Arkansas lost that competitive edge and just couldn't find a replacement in the SEC.

Now that Texas is coming maybe Arkansas will get that motivation that they have lost for so many years.

I like the Arkansas program and I like the Missouri program, also.

UA's heydays were the 60s & 70s, but they've always been competitive. I'd say the same for Mizzou, too...y'all have had a few really good teams in the past.

An up-vote for case-presentation with facts. Hourra!!

I think it would be a good rivalry because:

(1) Proximity and cultural similarity: the states obviously border each other, but also share the Ozarks. A lot of kids in the southern part of Missouri end up heading to Arkansas for school because it's a lot closer to home than Mizzou. There is a natural rivalry to form there. Mizzou is the third closest P5 campus to Arkansas and the closest SEC campus by nearly 100 miles.

(2) Almost mirror image SEC football programs. See my OP, since joining the SEC, Mizzou and Arkansas are the most similar schools in terms of SEC win/losses. The schools also have similar success (or perhaps difficulties) recruiting, and have similar ceilings and floors: both can field strong teams, but neither can get over the hump and win an SEC championship.

(3) Someone to fill the void and we are the right fit for each other. Mizzou's true rival is obviously Kansas, but I don't see that game ever coming back on an annual basis, unfortunately. Nebraska is our other historic rival, but much like LSU or Texas to Arkansas, those games are usually a bit one-sided and the all-time series does not reflect a competitive rivalry. Arkansas does have a competitive rivalry with A&M, but those Aggies are so fixated on everything burnt orange, that y'all will always be a second thought to them. That's only going to get worse with Texas entering the conference.

It is/will be a good basketball rivalry.

To be 100% honest with you on this, hog fans view ourselves as the perpetual underdog in football. Going back to the SWC days, Texas was the king of the conference but hog fans took pride in being able to take them down a peg or two every now and then. We're not the best fanbase on a week to week basis but #1 coming to town and you'll be hard pressed to find a more enthusiastic fanbase.

Legitimately, most of us would rather average .500 playing the best teams every year in the SEC than be an Okie State type successful team in a weaker conference.

It's not in our nature to get excited about Mizzou even though you're at least equal to us as a program in the modern era.

Arkansas wants OU as a rivalry.

They have no history together.

That alone should tell you they are either:

A) Think they are too good for us.

B) Scared of us.

C) Retarded.

D) All of the above.

D is the correct answer.

Keep it simple. At least Arkansas had glory years, Mizzou was the cupcake being pounded by OU and Nebraska in those “glory years”.

Our glory years were the 60’s. We weren’t getting pounded by no one.

Undefeated in 1960.

We’ve been 1 game away from the NC 2 times since 2007. Arkansas can’t say that at all.

Dumbass alert.

So Missouri is trying to force Arkansas to be their “rival”.. newsflash.. if you have to convince someone to be your rival.. then you have already lost the argument..

Your rival is Kansas. Perhaps you should spend your time writing your AD to renew that series. You could beat Arkansas 20 straight times and they still wouldn’t care about you.

Force? No. Nobody is suggesting that Mizzou and Arkansas have a fierce rivalry, or any kind of rivalry. This thread is about a good number of Arkansas fans having this delusional belief that they are too good for Mizzou.

Missouri isn’t forcing shite lol.

We are good on rivalries. We have Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois and even Kstate to an extent. SEC has forced us into playing Arkansas cause them bitches have no legit rivalry.

You all can’t base an opinion on a message board and then say ignore Twitter.

Y’all just need to give in and admit, both sides are in on this shite. I never cared about Arkansas till you fricks on this message board and Twitter talked all this shite and now I just love that y’all can hardly beat us in football.

Downplay it all you want. But your actions online prove to differ.

Pretty dumb post… Arkansas didn’t need Texas. No one does except maybe the Aggies or Sooners…
