I thought Petrino was a great coach, and I enjoyed the years that he was here. However, by the time he left, I had pretty much written off any possibility of him ever beating Alabama. Petrino could breeze through every team on his schedule, but Nick Saban beat the damn brakes off of his team every year.

Do I MISS Petrino? For awhile I missed winning 10 or more games a year, and at one point last year I was convinced that we were going to have to fire Bielema, but he got it turned around and things are looking up. At the end of the day, Petrino screwed himself out of a pretty good gig here at Arkansas, and our PROGRAM is in better shape now. The recruiting (while still being around the same nationally) is better. Bielema has a much lower attrition rate than Petrino had, and he does a much better job addressing needs at every position. Petrino tends to recruit a SHITLOAD of wide receivers (I think we had like 18 scholarship offers for receivers that Bielema stopped recruiting when he got here, no shite) at the expense of talent on the back half of his defense.

At Arkansas, Petrino had teams that could throw the ball all over the field, but often times you'd see an all-out gunslinger war between both teams because our pass defense was beyond terrible (Georgia in Fayetteville comes to mind).

In the end I think that Bielema is going to build a program that is better suited for long term success and will win a lot of games himself.

Bret is 7-17 in the SEC ... and Petrino had you on the verge of de-throning Bama... I would think you all would say you miss him.

I miss winning. But knowing what we know now not really. Turns out petrino built teams are houses of cards. Eventually something will come along and knock them over.

Does this answer your question?

University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino issued a statement Thursday morning saying the school will take measures to secure his Twitter account after the account, which can be accessed by multiple people, was caught liking pornographic material on Wednesday.

I looked it up Bret's recruiting classes average 10th in the SEC and Petrino's average 9th. There was 2 more programs in the SEC under Berts time at Arkansas , so it looks like they are fairly even in recruiting . Those facts should get some more down votes

Isn't that what this website was built for? Seems to me that's about all that happens here. From ANY fanbase. I think people just don't like to hear people from Arkansas talk shite - period. People that complain about "Arkansas fans" are pussies.

The difference is half of the class isn't getting arrested and kicked off or not qualifying. If you look at Petrino's 2009 class like 17 players ended up not finishing out their career here...some crazy number like that. He took some big time risks.

Bielema signed the highest rated player we've ever gotten last year and his players actually stay and can be brought along as we develop the redshirt program for the future. He had one of the best walk-on and redshirt programs at Wisconsin and is trying to develop that here it just takes time. We're never going to be the most talented team out there so winning with a team of 5th year seniors with a mix of a few talented underclassmen is a good approach for us IMO.

Well yeah because most people are bright enough to realize that kind of comparison is worthless.

Petrino was the benefactor of the most talented in-state class in Arkansas history.

That's the only reason his recruiting rankings are as good as they are, and they aren't that good to begin with.

The two good years Petrino had at Arkansas, he had four wide receivers, a TE, and two QBs all from Arkansas that all got drafted in the NFL.

He had very few quality players from out of state, he had a bad habit of finishing second in most of his recruiting battles.

Bert signed the best RB in the nation last year out of the state of Texas. That never would have happened with Petrino and staff.

Florida fans will get to meet him the first Saturday in November when he goes for over a hundred on your defense as a freshman.

Should we really have to link the dozens of threads where the loserteer fans were elated over the '15 game with bama?

You really should be worried about your lesbian coach and your easiest schedule in the sec.

If he doesn't go over a hundred it will only be because our other RB from Texas that Bert stole from Ole Miss gets more carries and he goes over a hundred on you.

Running behind a line consisting of 4 star players, none from the state of Arkansas.

In Petrino's offenses, our best linemen were usually a couple of under-rated 3 star players from in state.

Toledo's Super Bowl = an SEC school

Arkansas's Super Bowl = LSU

I really do envy y'all how you can be content just beating 1 team and going 7-5. I would be completely demoralized going 7-5 even if we beat Alabama handily.

Lose LF before the first snap for the whole season and see how your expectations change for a season. Then lose your top 3 WR's on the depth chart and your best linebacker throughout the season. That's what happened with us.

But it's ok to be content with a coach that can't even be competitive with that 7-5 team on the field while also not being able to beat Saban?

LSU fans are idiots. We are losing players left and rt, they just say no big deal. It's why they hate Miles. They actually believe LSU is the only team with talent and is the only team that should lay claim to a national title.

But in 2012 LSU list 22 scholarship players to injury and suspensions. Tyrann Mathieu was one. And an all sec olineman up and quit the team 3 weeks in. They were one tackle away from winning the west and possibly playing ND for the national title. But yet Les still gets shite on when that may have been his best job yet.

No one would go 10-2(6-2) in the sec if that happened to them.
