i would think that they would be more offended that Les Miles destroyed Petrino which caused him to meltdown on the football field and sent him spiraling downward into a blackhole of sin and debauchery...subsequently destroying their football program and forcing them to hire a fat yankee with a Vegas prostitute as a wife.

You just had to, huh? Got the best of you and had to ask the question

Not really, no. The demomnym for Arkansas is "Ar-kansan".
For the LSU fans: "Dat right dere be da name by which we call areselves anyhow".

Louisiana's highest paid state employee did not know how to pronounce a neighboring state's name. That's hilarious.

I think they were most offended by the fact that he wouldn't take more money and more years to coach there, no matter how much they begged him.

I think it's just a dig, but it seems like more of a diss to the French explorers that came through the area.
While both Kansas and Arkansas refer to the same Native American tribe, understanding the reason why they're pronounced differently would require knowledge of things like how the Algonquin language pluralized nouns, and how language used to describe spread from tribe to tribe and then French to English explorers and colonists. Brigadier General Zebulon Pike, then a lieutenant, was tasked to explore the Arkansas River and he wrote it as "ARKANSAW," suggesting that the Arkansas pronunciation is how it has always been known in Louisiana and along the Mississippi River.

And how can I be mad when I've said we are shitty ole Arky. I know what I am.
It's sad that you guys are STILL in denial after 2009.

All true besides the Petrino part.
Happy to admit it.

How utterly pathetic.

Arkansas begged Jerry Jones to give them enough money to almost double Miles' salary, and Miles still said no because no matter how much money you might have, you'd still be coaching Arkansas.
Now they are struggling with their second choice coach.
