No flame, just a serious question.

I would say most people expect Wilson to step in and pickup right where Mallet left off and be one of the top QBs in the SEC.0. But other than the Auburn game, what proof do you guys have he will excel in your offense.

At AU he went 24/35 for 342 with 4 TDs and 2 Ints
For comparison, McElroy went 27/37 for 377 and 2 TDs.

My question is, what if Wilson is as good in the passing game as McElroy?

That worthless piece of garbage of a caoch is great with QBs...i doubt he forgot how to prep this kid for the season. Wilson will be fine.

TW is Dan Marino and John Elway all rolled up in one. I'll save the Arkies some trouble.

Wilson is in his 4th year in the program so its not like he is a freshman being thrown in to the fire. There will probably be some early season bumps and bruises as he settles in but overall I think we will be fine.

We could have Tom Brady with P. Manning as a back up and I would still worry.

My big worries are with the O Line and having to use Bama as the first real test.

No doubt, Wilson looked GREAT against AU, but my point is who didn't look great against their pass D.

Don't really see why they would be "worried" about him. He strikes me as being a perfectly servicable QB in a system he is comfortable with, plus he has a nice stable of receivers.

Before OT Oden was dismissed from the team, and before Knile Davis was injured, Wilson was really poised to put up huge numbers. Now that we have a question mark at one OT spot, and a potential depth concern at RB, Wilson is going to have a harder time putting up Mallett-esque numbers.

The good thing for him is that our defense should be better, and our special teams are very solid, so maybe he will just have to be more of a game manager. The question is whether or not he can just "manage" games and hold back from always pushing for that next big play, which can lead to trouble against the likes of Bama, LSU, etc...

No question Wilson will end up being in the upper echelon of SEC QB's, but it remains to be seen whether he has the leadership and decision making skills to lead his team to an SEC West Championship.

Also, he had no idea he would even get to play that day and did a damn good job. Once the refs made sure to make it hard on us we had to press to try and make thing happen late in the game. He knows he's the guy every Saturday. Like others said, if we can block (which is a HUGE task with freshmen) the sky is the limit.

Pretty sure he's gonna be a better passer than McElroy.

Maybe the OP title should read:

"Hog opponents and their fans- You should be worried about Tyler Wilson."

With the ability he has shown- and the recievers in their arsenal- I do not see the Hogs as an easy out, by any stretch.....

4 years in the system (even if he didn't start) plus:

makes me think the transition won't be as tough as most first year starters. loss of the starting RB and an OT will make it tougher, but the 3 cupcakes to start the season should help.

We will find out in two weeks if we need to be worried or not. Well technically 6 weeks(bama).
