How do MU students live in a pro sports-devoid shite hole like Columbia MO for 4 years while attending school?

I wasn't just addressing this to kilo. In fact, I'd love the opinions of some who actually attended MU (or college)

RE: Pro sports. That's fun. But I don't care about them personally. Lots of people do. That's fine and dandy. I see NHL, MLB and NBA as reasons to get drunk on a Tuesday.

Personally, I've never needed an excuse.

The City of Springfield, Missouri's chamber of commerce presented dignitaries visiting the city with an "Ozark Hillbilly Medallion" which declared the dignitary and honorary "hillbilly of the Ozark."

Ozark High School, in Ozark, Arkansas nicknamed all sports teams "Hillbillies" or "Ozark Hillbillies."

You're both a bunch of banjo-picking, tobacco-spittin', Jed Clampit, hog-riding hillbillies.

Texans go on and on about the "Hill Country", even pay top dollar to weekend there and hang out on the lakes. It's just a crowded, low-rent version of the Ozarks, TBH.

Both areas attracted German Catholics for whatever reason (maybe it reminded them of home). Both areas were Republican strongholds in their states, when the rest of the state was still proudly "Southern Democrat". Both areas were pro-Union in the Civil War.

The biggest differences are that the Ozarks are both prettier, and only recently started being over-run by Texicans.

Nobody cares what Mizzou does. Y'all can go to Alaska and play. And stay there.

year-long poll showed that fans of visiting SEC teams couldn't figure out what the "M" stood for.
