What expectations have Petrino's Hogs not met?
Probably met the bottom end of expectations. 2008 a bit of a disappointment not even getting to 6-6. Last year basically barely meeting them with 7 wins and a bowl win over a mid major.

This would make for the most epic SECCG ever. Can you imagine how hard each of these teams would play?
Sold out for sure

No logically thinking person would have expected Arkansas to win 6 games in Petrino's first year. And when I say logically thinking, I mean someone who could objectively look at the talent afforded him, the schedule, and the short time to completely change philosophies.

You barely beat a IAA team and ULM along with losing to a pretty hapless MSU team. That's not meeting expectations no matter how you want to spin it.

They didn't have expectations Petrino's first season he inherited a complete mess the TCTWF left. Bobby Petrino also had to install his passing game with Casey Freaking Dick.. Are you Kidding me!! CASEY DICK!!!! But now we got the best QB in the country Ryan Mallett the best WR group in the country and one of the deepest RB groups in the country and a defense who returns almost everyone and got some great DL signees coming in this fall.

Barely beating a IAA team should be an indicator of how little talent Nutt left. Jesus. Petrino routinely beat the ever-loving-shite out of teams like that at Louisville.

And He didn't struggle with OOC teams last season.

Logically, we didn't have any defense that year over the age of 18. Reggie Herring himself admitted that Arkansas's defense was in trouble because of the recruitng.

It's a IAA team (a non playoff one at that), you cant use talent as an excuse when it's a freakin IAA team, stop with the excuses, you guys underachieved that year no doubt. Your talent advantage was still huge over them.

Talent is exactly the reason I'd point to that as an excuse. And it's exactly why we got buttfricked by 'bama, florida, and texas. And it's why we lost to MSU. It's why we almost lost to ULM. What else is there to say? That Petrino so mismanaged Nutt's superstars that we did that poorly? That the lack of NFL players was a glaring oversight on the part of general managers the world over?

They've never had any big time expectations, though I'd argue that they fell a little short this year. Thing is in the past 15 years Arkansas has never lived up to high expectations. I know that most of that was with Nutt, but it could be a program issue.
I guess we'll find out this year.
You are too young and really don't understand the program but it truly goes back to Hatfield and the SWC.

Oh, so Arkansas didn't win good enough? That's rubbish, the talent on the defensive side of the ball wasn't good enough to be second string at most of the other SEC schools (there might be a couple exceptions).

So? Iowa barely beat 2 IAA teams and ended up with an 11-2 record and BCS Bowl victory.
I know BCS teams are supposed to, and often do, crush the IAA teams but you never know.. especially early in the year when teams are still working their kinks out. As long as they get the "W" instead of losing and having it derail your season (ie App.State-Michigan)

That's all it is, an excuse, because it's simply not true. You guys out talent Western Illinois by a TON in any given year. Saying talent is the reason that game is close is shear stupidity.
Western Illinois is excited to land a couple 2-star level talent in a given year while you guys even in your worst years recruiting recently rack up mostly 3-stars. You guys had a huge talent advantage over them, takes poor coaching to almost lose to a team like that.

First off Iowa only played 1 IAA team last year and I'd say there's a big difference in having a hiccup and going 11-2 than it being a trend and going 5-7.
There is absolutely NO "talent" excuse for Arkansas to use when they play a team like Western Illinois. Texas, Alabama, sure. Western Illinois, GTFO with that crap.

i would blame the almost disaster loses to those teams on the learning of new more complex schemes. We are more talented then a 1aa team or we would be getting blown out every week instead of just twice this last year. those games were early in the year and we were still really trying to install the systems we are running. i mean this year they supposedly were trying to install some more stuff. my biggest fear of our program is that petrino and willy have gotten stuff so complex that it takes kids to long to learn and this will make the wait for a team that truely understands the system and is very good to come together. but we will see

Arkansas has actually won their division a few times.
I feel like South Carolina, a team that has historically been pretty bad and had trouble meeting even moderate expectations, will fail before Arkansas does.
Ignoring history for a minute, South Carolina gets Arkansas AT HOME and their schedule is slightly easier. (although SC still has to play Alabama and @ Fl)
