ArkyHog Football has an Arky problem..

Yeah yeah, I remember that time when Bobby had em in the Top 5 behind LSU and Bama in 2011..before reality crashed his Hog..and side piece.

Gotta go back to Holtz and Hatfield for some decent career league win pcts..not SEC accrued.

So your title implies that Bert is a bad coach... and then you say his failures here are because of the program?

Corndog logic for you

He won plenty enough before he and Alvarez fell out..

Does Wisconsin have so much great in state talent? They just keep rolling along HC after HC.

Not trolling, being blunt force in reality checking.

I believe Bielema to be a very fine HC, and admire his honesty. Thought given the talent at hand, his team's were competent, fought hard, and tough.

Don't feel his SEC results to have shown great fault in him like in Jones or McElwain, or dare say Sumlin with Tx athletes, etc..

My man, I may have started the the thread to tease, but am telling you sincerely, unlike many of the SEC HCs jettisoned this year, I don't feel Bielema the damaged goods that the rest are.

I see a competent HC that in the right situation, is a winning HC with a third act.

I'll play. More in-state talent(especially their big guys) and recruit very well on the east coast, Midwest and even the southeast.

Any coach can put a lock on most of the in-state talent we have here, but we need someone that can pull top guys from TX to succeed long term.

"At the Texas high school coaches convention this summer, he said, 'If you don't play with a fullback, we'll kick your arse. If you throw it 70 times a game, we'll kick your arse.' He just got his arse kicked twice in a row, and probably next week by A&M, as well."

...Bert sure knows how to make an impression in Texas. Guy is a clown that has BS'd his way through everything. Alvarez ran that team.

I can agree with a lot of that. And do think Ark definitely needs to get back to doing more damage on the Texas recruiting trails, be it more charismatic HC, better results vs ATM on the field, and/or the H&As with Texas in OOC.

And it would be nice if Saban quit pulling the best player out of Fayatteville, Baton Rouge, Lexington, Los Angeles, Honolulu,etc..

But, I feel BB about to be slandered like the other HC fired, and feel he's better than that.

Really loved to watch his pressers and coaches show, found him sincere and to the point.

He was good enough to be 2-3 vs. LSU. But evidently, you don't have to be too good to do that.

I will say this - I like his offensive philosophy, run it down your throat, ball control, real American football.
And it appeared for a couple of years that he was building that kind of juggernaut, until the wheels fell off last season.

For his style to work, you have to have a very good offensive line. We had a pretty decent one once in his tenure. Since then, not so much.

The whole success of the team is built on that one critical factor - a good O line. Without that, the running game doesn't work, without the running game the play action passing doesn't work, without either one working the defense has to stay on the field too much and it just snowballs...

If we had a good O line this year, we most likely wouldn't even be having this conversation. Ifs and buts.

I've been impressed with all the Arkansas themed threads lately. The SEC is obviously terrified because they know we've got all the money we need to do what needs to be done.

Ok, I gave y'all up votes on the other posts, but let's not get carried away.

If ATM's mega endowment, NFL stadium, and in-state talent have yet to make a dent in SEC play..slow your roll.

And yes, I respect Ark's SECCG trips, and near rally to takedown Fla in 2006.

Barry Alvarez runs Whisky football. We got conned by Bielema, he sucks.

We are about to hire a coach 10 times better than Orgeron no matter what we do. I guarantee we won't be hiring a coach that was canned from Ole Miss.

People think Bret is a bad coach just because he's unsuccessful and shite. Narrow-minded dumbasses.

But, no, seriously, I agree. Bret is a very good coach. He's not an elite coach -- an elite coach would have overcome some of the inherent disadvantages of Arkansas like a dearth of local talent and having to run the gauntlet of what has been the most brutal division in CFB over the last 8 years or so -- but he's very good fundamentally and uses intelligent if not brilliant gameplans to best match up with different opponents. He could do well at a school in a different division (I think he'd actually be a pretty good coach at UT, though they have to grapple with cyclical talent issues too, or back in the B10.) Honestly, if Coach Mason were fired next week for losing to that pestilential sad sack of a program over in Knoxville, I wouldn't object to hiring Bielema to replace him.

Sometimes, but it's very inconsistent and he seems to be unable to make good halftime adjustments.

He appears to be a poor at evaluating talent and his recruiting seems directionless at times.

I will give him credit for running an extremely clean program. If anything, he needs to be a "fixer". A guy who goes placesnlome OM or Baylor and gets them back on the straight and narrow.
