I agree. I wish everyone could live in peace with one another, like we all collectively do on the SRant.

hope so. we have a lot of them. i mean a lot. probably most of all SEC schools. so it would interesting. half our dt is hippish but i mean a lot of normal people go over there too. our hippies i think care more about smoking and music though, UGA isn't the least political. as long as our tuition is low and it remains inexplicably easy to drink then everyone is happy.

not our fault he is a pussy hippie and he tried to start violence. while doing it peacefully he tried to rub it in peoples faces and get attention. He got the attention but it turned out all wrong for him.
His reason for this was off base and stupid but he still had the right to do it but along with his right to do it he also had to face the consequences of his action. Those have just started for him and his gf good luck to them staying in baton rouge which is not a hippie mecca

oh god yea. there is so damn much temptation here, students can't even focus, not to mention football players. we have 50+ bars, half of which are easy on fakes, half of those you could show them a napkin that says "im 21" in crayon and you could get in. and the players are like rockstars downtown and every cleatchasing female in athens flocks to the bar the team is at that night, which these days is bourbon street or whiskey bent

FYI: What Benjamin wanted to say before the crowd drowned him out (per the Reveille):
quote:
"Funny Facebook said that there were only going to be 64 of you. I initially began this flag burning protest to define due process for students and suspected terrorists alike, to call on LSU and universities across the country to defend basic human rights and avoid putting students into the criminal justice system when it can be taken care of internally.
Solidarity means standing with those who are treated as guilty until proven innocent, instead of the other way around. That's what freedom is, standing with those who express their constitutional rights in ways that may be unpopular, especially the accused and the marginalized no matter the consequences.
In the name of peace, there will be no flag burning today. This country and the flag that flies over it stands for freedom, democracy, love, peace and the ability to question our government."

Why support a student burning a flag right after our countries greatest enemy was killed by the hands of our own men and women in uniform?

I would actually not be that upset over this. But, said student got in trouble NOT for burning A flag. He got in trouble because he 1) damaged OTHER peoples property (cut the halyard) 2) STOLE other people's property (took the LSU flag 3) DESTROYED other peoples property (burned a flag that did not belong to him)
silliness to act as if he is being persecuted for expressing unpopular RIGHTS. Dude performed criminal acts.

What about those burning a flag due to it touching the ground, or being ripped and ready for retirement?
