So, if it's AU you believe UGA is magically going to get 23 points better? Just curious, but what's this based on besides hope?

I'll give you a reason from an experience in high school.

My Junior year we played a team, and they beat us 30-0.
It was the only game we lost all year.
We played them again in the playoffs and they beat us again....10-0. True, they beat us both times, and shut us out both times, but it was a 20 point turnaround, because we just played poorly the first time out. They got a pick 6 late in the game or it would have been 3-0.

Who knows, really. I can assure you that bigger turnarounds have happened. Is it likely? No. Is it possible? yes.

I think UGA is set up well. I've always had my doubts about Kirby, though. Not that I think anything truly bad will happen, I'm just not sure he's going to be able to live up to expectations and his coaching lineage.

Well, I don't think we are ready to put him Saban territory, but I've been pleased with the improvement from last year to this year....as far as in game coaching is concerned.

I honestly expect him to be very successful at Georgia.
Next year will tell us a lot as we will have a good bit of turnover. But, the defense played with a lot of passion earlier in the year. They seem to have lost some later during the year, though.

I dont think cocky has a thing to do with it. We have a much better defense than Georgia and controlled both lines of scrimmage. You aint changing that in the three weeks between games assuming we get past the crimpsum tards.

Richt has an undefeated team in year 2 with a clear shot at the playoff. You got exposed and blown out by Auburn. Richt would have won that game. You lose a ton of players from this years team especially on Defense. You are benefiting this year from the East being in shambles it won’t stay that way forever.

Yep - and congrats to him. But in the past - he never managed to beat the teams he should have on a regular basis. This was accomplished this year. East has been soft for years - so what? Never took advantage. Kirby and company have.

Losing players yep, playing a ton of freshman. Re-loading buddy.

As for the "talent company to Athens" now retort - we're getting the guys AU and Alabama and others were getting. That was my point. You should understand that.

I don't think many people disagree with that, but home field advantage exacerbated both advantages. Throw in a poorly timed leaping penalty and muffed punt, and it got out of hand.

I want to play Bama because I'm worried beating Auburn somehow we get left out.

I wouldn't mind paying Auburn, though. No way they would beat us again.

Nice analysis ... thanks for that.

I get tired of the a-holes that constantly say this because "every island/beach" is better. Great - stay the f away from my beach. If you don't get Tybee, then I don't get you. So we're good.

That is all ...

Year 3 might not be what you think when you lose a lot of those Richt recruited defensive players.

Maybe - we'll see.

And I'm sorry I brought up the "R" word - won't happen again (sheesh)

I don't think its that hard to imagine a scenario where the game would be closer...a few turnovers and uga certainly wins.

-uga must successfully run some jet sweeps to freeze LB's and Safeties
-uga should employ 3 step drops that include slants...back shoulder throws and fades don't help the run game as much as completing a few slants
-uga should run timely counter or reverse plays

Any of the above or all of them could significantly shift the LOS advantage Auburn had in the first game. Assuming Auburn still moves the ball against uga that is how you have a close game. Like most close games whoever doesn't turn it over will likely win.

In football a myth exists about rematches. At all levels HS, College and Pro when teams rematch one of 2 things generally happens. 1) A great team wins the rematch. State championship team forced to beat a district opponent in the playoffs, the rare experience in college that would lead to a championship caliber team that might set up for Auburn rematching uga. In the Pro's division foes who sweep the division games often win the Super Bowl or at least their own conference.

2) A good team will lose the rematch game. It's hard when you are only good and you are playing another good team to beat them twice. Is Auburn good or great? IMO if Auburn doesn't beat bama then we will already have the answer without playing uga.

1) You exude class.
2) Did LSU control both lines of scrimmage?
3) Anyone who knows anything about football and sports in general, knows that you can change the way you approach an opponent and change an outcome. Happens all of the time. Auburn is not a better football team than UGA. It was just better at home under those conditions on that day. We've beaten teams with very good lines. LSU proved that Auburn is not special.

In my opinion being a laughably sore loser isn't exactly classy either.

For candor, and I'm directing this at the reasonable UGA fans, not you, I think a second game would likely be a closer affair. Several things went right for AU and wrong for UGA. That doesn't change that Auburn manhandled UGA, but I would expect UGA to stay in the game.

Case in point...our running game. We were stopped cold.
Anybody that wants to pretend we were not manhandled is only fooling themselves.

Could it be different? yes. Doesn't mean it will be different, though.

Yes, the guy who stated they laugh at the obituaries of opposing fans should be making comments about class....

Auburn has a big home field advantage, but I really feel BAMA will just outclass them. I don’t think Auburn can play like they played against UGA twice in three weeks. Saban will have his boys ready and BAMA should get more of their guys back from injuries.

BAMA will win by 10 points.

I hope we can compete with BAMA, but I just don’t think we are quite their yet. UGA will have the horses to win at the highest level in 2019. Next year, we will be good, but not as good as this year.

Thankfully it won't take playing like that to win. We just have to play well and not make mistakes. 1 point wins are as good as 23 point wins.

I want Auburn again as a revenge game.

If we play Bama and win, they will use the excuse "we were at half strength with linebackers being out"

However, I think it's a moot point because Bama will win.

In all likelihood our best LB and Nickel will be out. So you won't see the same Auburn team you saw a few weeks earlier.

I suppose I'd rather play Auburn, I just feel we have a better chance to beat them. Even though bama looks human of late it's still bama and they have 5* at every position and nick saban as coach. They also tend to play extremely well in SECCs.

Despite what happened a few weeks ago I feel we have a better shot to beat AU. Despite the woefully awful performance, we have typically matched up very well with Gus over the last several years. And the biggest issue most people point to with that game was that their lines were so much better than ours, and I don't really see us having an easier time with bama's considering how well they've recruited the last 5 years.

I guess you haven't watched Auburn in the SECC games. In 2004, set records. In 2010, set records. In 2013, set records. Playing in Atlanta has been really good to Auburn, and not so much for their opponents.

ok? That doesn't negate bama playing well in them also.
