Arch Manning...the next Chris Simms

Aggy making fun of Simms has never made any sense to me. His best work came against you dopes. In 2001 he went 8-8 for 240something and 3 TDs against y'all in ONE QUARTER. You better hope that Manning isn't the next Chris Simms because there's a greater than zero chance that you'll have to face him.

That said, I hope you're right. Shitty as we've been, 26-6 and kicking off a 10 year run of great football suits me just fine.

Simms was 26-6 as a starter.

He started 4 games against aTm, went 3-1. The loss was his freshman season, which was the “Bonfire Game”. Simms started because Major had a stomach bug of some sort.

His stats in the wins:

2000-Texas 43, aTm 17; 383 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, avg 23.9 yards/completion
2001-Texas 21, aTm 7; 138 yards, 0 TD or InT
2002-Texas 50, aTm 20; 278 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT

Overrated as a whole? Maybe. But that’s the media’s fault. Simms seemed to shine in games they were supposed to win, not necessarily the “get over the hump” type games.

Simms' stat line in the 3rd quarter of the 2000 game:

8-8, 243 yards, 3 TD passes to Roy Williams, BJ Johnson, and Sloan Thomas, the 3 highly rated WR recruits who followed Simms to Texas.

During Simm's tenure, Texas signed the #1 recruiting class, including Vince Young, and won the National Championship in 2005.

Chris Simms to Vince Young to Colt McCoy. I'll take it. Quinn Ewers to Arch Manning; looking forward to it.

Can you pick out the 3 highest rated quarterbacks of all time?

You realize aggy has lost to Kansas as well, plus has the same number of 10 win seasons as aggy over 20+ years. And aggy has lost to USL, Ark STATE and a winless, death penalty SMU team. And many many more.

I’m sure Arch will be okay, but won’t duplicate Burrow’s 2019 season.

Burrow is elite. I'd be ecstatic with any performance close to that.

He certainly doesn't look like anything special on tape. He looks more like a game manager type QB that would look decent on a Bama or UGA type of talented team at best.

I'm sure he'll be a fine player, but Sark will be fired and he'll be back on the Market after his freshman year.

I mean this in the nicest way, but Sark as a head coach makes a wonderful OC. I just keep picturing him on the sideline, when the game against Arkansas was still in reach, looking like he just been told he had a cancerous growth on his pecker.

He would make a better head coach in the NFL then he would in college I think.
