If they do, I don't want to hear a damn thing from LSU fans anymore about NC's awarded before the bowls and losing the bowl game. 13 would stand and LSU fans would be hypocrites to argue it.

You can't be against the OP's position but also claim MNC's in say 64 & 73...just to name 2. If you fools want to claim those, then you should have no problem with the AP going ahead and naming LSU NC for this year. It's EXACTLY like the Gumps claiming MNC's in 64 & 73 even though you lost your bowl game.

What about 64, 73, 78...you claiming those? If so, whats your basis for that claim?

Really...the Gumps claim 2 in their media guide after losing bowls in 64 & 73. The common theme here is "claim".

Great...so the OP was spot on and we should be awarded the title right now.

If LSU gets a split national championship by being #1 in the AP polls, wouldn't that make them the equivalent of 2003 USC?

With the exception of the fact that U$C and LSU didn't play in the regular season, yes.

The problem a lot of my fellow LSU fans have is that after 2003 they stood on the "BCS is the true championship, agreed upon by all the schools" bedrock and would be really foolish to change it now.

The BCS is the national championship and LSU will have both BCS and AP.

All 13 of Bama's are nationally recognized by anyone who isn't a complete moron. Everyone recognizes LSU having only 3. That's how it is, doesn't matter who does what how.

If you consider these guys ( Dunkel, Williamson, and Football Thesaurus. Dunkel was an individual who came up with his own system. Williamson was a geologist who came up with his own system) as legit, then I guess you are right. But they are not legit and you are wrong. LSU has similar claims but "unqualified sources" for about 8 MNC's but we have too much pride to claim that BS...unlike you Gumps.

I appreciate your analysis of Bama history. But OP is asking for the AP championship now. Sorry, but the current AP votes after the bowls. So, maybe they give you the AP afterwards even if we win the game. That would be alright with me. But can't give it to you now. If they had changed the rules back to what they were in 64' then you're good to go already. I think in 73' it was the UPI that voted before the bowls so we split that year. But they can't change the rules at this point.

Bama fans are the laughing stock of the football world, and a good part of it is that 13 NC shite.

No, that role is for Ole Miss or AU. But not for a program that's going after the NC 2 of the last 3 yrs.

Little difference between you folks with these questionable title claims.

Its hilarious to read the ill informed opinions of the board "experts" about just how, who, and when Bama's NCs were earned.

Bitching about years when Bama was named champs, then them losing their bowl, shows a stunning lack of knowledge for people who act like they are well versed in college football history. Bitching about past championships without taking into account that they were won under the rules and system in place, is right on par with bitching about teams from the thirties wearing leather helmets...

I couldn't have said it better myself. The loudest opponents to Alabama's awarded poll titles are those that are projecting the current process on those before the BCS/Bowl Coalition/Bowl Alliance.

Tonight, ESPN said if Bama were to win they would surpass or tie ND and become the leader in NC's with 9. Take it up with their "uniformed" arse.

You can go online to various sites and find them listed from 8-12. Usually Bammers are the ones touting 12.

ESPN is correct that Alabama currently has 8 poll titles. Some folks don't consider anything prior to the poll era as being legitimate. That would call into question any titles Alabama claims before 1936. That being said, the NCAA Record Book cited all 13 of our national championship selectors, plus the 5 "other" titles in 2009.
In 2010, the NCAA Record Book cited all 13 of our national championship selectors. In 2011, the NCAA moved their records online and now only recognize 11 of our national championships (and notice I used the word cited, as the NCAA doesn't officially recognize college football titles).

I'll handle this one boys. It's because we won the coach's and ap poll in 64, coach's poll champions in 73, and ap poll in 78. Please advise me of a single school that doesn't claim a major poll championship you illiterate piece of swamp trash.
