What really chafes my arse is I could see a two loss GA being jumped by a shitty ND team they beat --- all because of their name.

Name recognition does help, but looking at their schedules, it might not be as unreasonable as it sounds. UGA has....Auburn. After that, it's just UF, and UF doesn't look particularly good. ND has USCw, Stanford, Miami, and a surprise contender in NCST. They run that table, they'll probably deserve to be ahead of a 2 loss UGA, especially since that means UGA lost to at least one mediocre team along the way.

Look, I generally like UGA quite a bit, but how are they much more of a national program than Clemson? Neither of these have the cachet of one of the true blue bloods.

Clemson lost to a 3-3 team and only fell 6 slots.

Probably some consideration for QB & kicker injuries.

Kevin Sumlin is staying in Texas A&M no matter how much y'all hate him

Not all of us hate him.
I just keep my mouth shut for the sake of family harmony .
I'm pleased for Coach Sumlin (and the players) that things are coming together better for them.
Most people who aren't completely unreasonable (and/or nuts) recognize that a coach needs a good five years to get his system in place.

South Carolina, State and Kentucky would beat at least 8 of the teams ranked 11-25.

11. USC almost lost to a Utah team that barely beat BYU
16. South Florida will be exposed
16. NC State already lost to South Carolina
20. UCF will be exposed
22. Stanford sucks
23. West Virginia is middle of the road
24. LSU lost by 30 to MSU
25. Memphis would lose to even more SEC teams

If Notre Dame manages to win out unfortunately they deserve a spot because that schedule is really good, but if Georgia is a 12-1 SEC champion with the one loss to Auburn, it'd be an absolute joke if Georgia got jumped by them.

I think Notre Dame actually upsets Southern Cal which really ups the talk of WOOO Notre Dame is really good and a playoff contender but I do think another loss for them is going to come, thankfully which will take them out of consideration.

2 losses and I don't think Georgia will be ranked close enough to discussion even if Georgia upsets Alabama unless a lot of wild things happen.

Too many LSU fans that were completely melting two weeks ago saying they wouldn’t win another game are now melting that they aren’t ranked high enough.

IKR?
A couple of LSU folks were giving Auburn grief last night for their mercurial opinions/emotions re: their team.
I got a decent chuckle outta that.

I don't have a problem with Penn State being ahead of us. All in all...if you keep winning it sorts itself out. If we lose along the way, then we have to get back to the drawing board. Time will tell.

In that situation, it would be inane. The post I was replying to posited a 2-loss UGA. If we're including the SECCG -- I wasn't -- those two losses could be to Auburn and Bama and it would be respectable. If we're not, then UGA lost to one of USCe, UF, GT, or UK. None of those look good on a national title contender's resume.

Agreed.
Aggie losses thus far:
1 point to UCLA
8 points to Bama

So through mid-October, the Ags are still in single digits, in terms of combined margins of loss.
That's not too shabby.
The UCLA pill is a tough one to swallow.

PSU still has to play actual good teams. They still have MSU and OSU. Plus Michigan, I guess. frick Michigan. So it'll definitely sort itself out pretty quickly.
