Nick Fairley is about the same topic; a fan base denying the obvious because it suits their inclination. Fairley was an obvious example, and
Nick Fairley might have very well been dirty, but it is laughable for mutts to bring it up considering how many dirty players your own team has had over the years. Hines Ward was repeatedly voted the dirtiest player by his own peers in the NFL, and I still remember him delivering a dirty block in college that caused an Auburn player to tear his ACL. The Mutts have even had 4 or 5 dirty hits this year alone.

The last PI call was one of the most blatant, easiest PI calls you're ever gonna see. The AU defender literally has both arms wrapped around the receiver, as you can see from the two shots below. Newsflash to the Auburn color guy...getting your head around does not give you free license to wrap up the receiver and try to tackle him. I really don't like Eli Gold at all, but the two Auburn guys are pitiful. If play by play radio guys are selected by the university, maybe the conference should fine them when they refer to an official's call as "bogus". You want to call it questionable, that's fine. If "bogus" gets a head coach a fine in a presser, maybe it should also get the play by play guy a fine.

And the color guy who kept going off, saying the flag came out late on the first PI call...if you watch the official, you can see his hand coming out of his hip pocket right away.

I don't get the complaining , All 3 calls were correct. And only homerism could see it different.

The 1st call is easy.
The 2nd Coats pushes off to get separation , it's one thing bumping while running the route , but he clearly pushes off with the ball in the air.
The 3rd call probably would not have been call if he goes for the ball instead of the receiver.

Coates pushed off, had to to get space.Pushed off right in front of the official. The second one was kind of ticky tack but it looked worse at game speed than it did in slow motion.
I was at the game sitting on the opposite side so I don't know from an eye witness account. I watched the game on dvr today before I knew there was this controversy. No doubt, it was a huge call. All these folks making comments regarding terrible call, etc., has the advantage of replay, slow motion, still frames, on and on. All I know is in real time, real speed, the receiver created separation with the push. What if that was all the ref saw? I am not going to go back and look at the dvr again but it doesn't matter that much to me. Maybe our guy did something first. Don't know. But the push created separation; clearly!

That doesn't prove anything because still pictures often don't tell the whole story. If you watch the video, the receiver tries to come back because the pass is underthrown, they do get tangled up, but he does not hold the receiver. His hand comes of the back almost as soon as it made contact. It is incidental contact

It's okay. We have garnered a lot more responses than I anticipated

We played awful
Mrs State was good
the officials were better

It's still defensive PI. At no point does the AU player attempt to play the ball.

So the former VP of officiating for the NFL is an Auburn homer? That's news to me.

If anybody had an off game yesterday, it was Prescott passing the ball.

Yeah Prescott was very bad at at times. Also had some drops. Not sure if I am comfortable with Graham back at returner either. He has looked awful lately.

He has his fricking arms wrapped around him. Jesus, even most of us admit Peterson picked off McElroy in 2009. And you guys think Bama fans are delusional.

It is if you don't watch football or understand the game. That was a terrible call. Going 2-6 in the red zone got us beat. It is likely we wouldn't have scored a touchdown anyway given our odds in the red zone during that game.

Like this is even the slightest bit debatable. As I stated earlier in this thread, Alabama fans created an online petition wanting Mike Slive to order overtime in last years Iron Bowl because they claimed Chris Davis stepped out of bounds on his return. Let me know when Auburn fans do something that crazy. It is also laughable that you are so worried about a call that didn't involve your team

Is it any worse than the first PI no call in the game?

You mean like taking pictures of Alabama's players cars, carfax forms, etc. and sending them to the NCAA and media?
