Well that was more about one player than the coach.

They didn't really compete with Bama.
We had more offense than LSU had against La Tech, and we stopped Bama’s ground game. We just couldn’t stop Tua.

Jimbo will have some initial success but since he left FSU , the program has rapidly descended into a shitshow.....it was actually headed that way last year

I'd be OK with seven 10-12 win seasons followed by a 6 win season.

I think that a football team has three main parts that you need for success:
Coaching 1/3
QB 1/3
Supporting personnel (rest of team) 1/3
Right now, A&M has the coaching in place at all levels of the program (Wasn't the case with Sumlin). QB looks to be a player, but he is young and developing. Switch Mond with Tua at bama and I don't think the records change for either team. Mond is better than Hurts. The supporting cast is the main area of weakness when you compare A&M to programs like Bama, UGA, OSU, Clemson, LSU, but outside of those programs there aren't many that would have a better supporting cast than A&M right now. If Jimbo is able to improve that area of the program than I definitely think they will compete for a playoff spot.

Anyone else surprised by how competitive Jimbo has already made A&M?
A little bit. I knew they'd be better than everyone was saying but not quite this good especially on the D line. What he's done so far is fairly impressive.
Actually if you think about it, if we didn't get Tua, we'd have some serious competition (as in possibly get our arse beat and be lucky to get a big bowl game) not just from the usual suspects (LSU, Auburn, Georgia, etc) but from other teams we didn't see coming like A&M.

The A&M D line interior likely takes a step back next year after losing two SR starters (both will be drafted). Pass rush will probably be a bit better and secondary will most definitely be better. Overall, I figure a slightly worse D or about the same. However, Mond, WR group, and OL will all be improved for 2019 as most all the personnel in those groups are sophomore players with a few Juniors here and there. RB will be about the same. Lots of talent already on campus there. Should be a great game at Kyle next season. Looking forward to seeing where A&M is then.

Then you have no problem admitting that Kentucky is, by far, the most overrated basketball team in the county.
Not to mention it looks like Will Wade is blowing right by them, huh?

Clemson might not be the number 3 team in the nation but they are by no means a push over

He put up a good fight against Clemson and lost then got blown out against Alabama. I wouldn’t exactly say he got them right. 6-6 is staring them in the face. Sumlin managed to do better than that.
Actually looking at their schedule 5-7 is a lot more likely. Back to back 6 wins or less seasons for mighty Jimbo
frick Ohio State's overrated arse.
