Yeah, bye in the playoffs if you win.

Historically the winner of this game is treated like trash by bowls and committee. Maybe now that it’s a 1vs 2 in a 16-team conference it will be different.

It’s really a shame that Texas and OU could not have join 15 years ago. Most Diehard SEC fans see the SEC Champ as the defacto National Champ. The game means you are the best in the SEC!

AND, since I consider the SEC far and away better than the Big 10 , ACC or Big 12 the winner in my mind whether they don’t make playoff or lose in the National Championships, to me their still the best

If we played a 7 game hypothetical series to determine the National champ like baseball, I feel strongly the SEC champ would win the series 8 out of 10 times

So yes, all you losers who are afraid to play please forfeit your spot so some real teams can play.

OU fans still value conference championships. Most coaches will as well. I do think with how many ranked teams each school is facing, the number of increased injuries playing physical games each week with a 9 game conference schedule, its going to take some really good teams from winning a national title after playing in a conference championship due to injuries.

College football is such a moronic, rudderless sport from a basic competition standpoint.

2011 and 2017 were the first years a team was rewarded with a BYE for losing. With an expanded playoffs, it’s the norm that a conference championship game appearance is a net negative.

That’s just an insane concept.
