Hmm, the current system began in 2014. I must have missed all the playoff appearances and natties raining down on lsu since that time?

That super conference would probably just be the P5, and it would be a modified version of the MLB draft with less rounds.

ETA: It would get boring quick.

Boring to watch like the NFL. Disparity is what makes cfb better. All the 5*s would be gone in the first round and on different teams. It would be hard for coaches to build a system with their style if they had to just get based on talent and nothing else. Plus players would get traded and have no real choice in majors.

Socialism!!! But...

If pay for play - I mean where teams can negotiate salaries and / or signing bonuses for top players, not just a flat stipend - ever comes to major college football, you will see a draft.
