I'm certain the Bengals won't.

He's Jameis Winston but dumber.

His physical talent is off the charts and better than Winston ever had. They're really not comparable players at all. Namely, Winston is not a dual threat QB at all and never has been.

He was 9 of 27 in that game, and 5 of those completions came on the final drive of the game.

So Flea Market Cam Newton or dime store Jamarcus Russell. Either way will not succeed like in college at the NFL level.

You don’t feel like you’re overselling him a little bit here?

This thread is about him declaring for the draft and whether that was smart. He very well may be a first round draft pick. That pays regardless of how good a player he ends up being. Josh Allen's production was average in college and came out of Wyoming. He turned out ok. Sometimes dudes like that bust, sometimes they don't. But the only relevance to this thread is whether or not him declaring for the draft is a good idea. I'm of the opinion he'll get drafted high enough to get paid a healthy sum. If he works out, good for the team who drafts him. If he doesn't, he still likely made the correct decision.

I mean Richardson has probably the strongest arm in the draft, is massive, and fast. He'll put on a show at the combine as he's a physical freak. Winston was none of those things as a prospect. He was a Heisman trophy winning QB who won a lot of games in college but his raw talent was not what Richardson's is. Winston was, however, a much much better college QB than Richardson

One of these is not like the others...

You just made a perfect case for drafting Jamarcus Russel first overall.

I agree that he has physical attributes in spades, but he’s raw as hell. I just don’t see him getting honed in the NFL because project guys are rare to succeed at that level. The word that would’ve convinced me would’ve been “consistent”, but he hasn’t been that. Idk why he declared. He must have intel we don’t.

Jamarcus was actually a good college QB, though.

The difference was Allen in college had tape of him making NFL throws to receivers and them dropping a ton of them. He had so little talent around him that the tape showed the problem was the other players, not him.
AR doesn't have that. WHile there were a couple games where he balled out, most of the tape is him just being wildly inaccurate, making bad decisions and has poor throwing mechanics. Allen didn't have the questions about mechanics or decision making. Accuracy... yes a bit, but his numbers were more about receivers sucking than him missing throws. He's one of the few guys who had an easier time in the NFL due to receivers being MORE open than they were in college... because his college WR's made him throw into tighter windows.

Look at every big board right now. It's the weakest QB class in some time. After Young and Stroud, there's a whole bunch of average and projects. fricking Will Levis is a top 15-20 pick on pretty much every mock I've seen. That's why he's declaring. If this were a class like 2019, things may be different.

I’m with him on this, Russel made no sense when it happened. He looked like everything you could ever want in an NFL QB and just laid an egg.

That’s fair; I hadn’t considered the competition. I’m still not sold on him, but that’s why I’m not a GM.
