Not going to happen. They are nowhere near No.1 in the last AP poll. They are not jumping all those other teams. This talk by the ABC crew is utterly ridiculous b/c USC not close enough to the No. 1 ranking right now and they have virtually no shot at jumping the teams ahead of them.

If Bama and Texas were in the Sugar Bowl this wouldn't even be a possibility.

Texas didnt even win their division of the Big12

yes they did, it was a 3 way tie.

There is also no requirement that you win your conference to win the AP NC.

Florida is #1 in the last AP poll, OU #2, USC #5 As USC fans will quickly point out, no team that was #1 in the AP poll won its bowl and dropped, I do not see anyway that UF or OU will not win the AP title.

I want them to do it, not because I want to screw OU or UF or reward USC, but to show the current system is awful. That would create a huge shake up.

Dude, it already happened in 2003, did that shake things up? No. All it would do is screw UF or OU. The current system is fine, would be better with a 4 team playoff, that's it.

Yeah but in 2003 the issue was not as controversial as it is today. People are already angry with the system a split would push that further.

No offense but are you too young to remember that year?

Maybe I remember it more as an LSU fan, but it was a HUGE controversy for the #1 team in both traditional polls to be left out. I remember Joe Theisman and others talking about during NFL games. There were columns written about it for a month. They have brief interviews with Saban and Stoops talking about it on the Sugar Bowl broadcast. If it didn't change in 2003, it won't change because of anything.

If the AP moves USC to #1 from #5 this year, the AP will lose all credibility.

If they jump anyone in front of them that wins, they should lose some credibility.

Nah USC wont get the AP Natl. Championship this year for sure. I just cant stand that they talk about it every year.

The only possibility this year is a Oklahoma win and a Texas blow out. And that could cause some problems with the polls.

It wont happen but god forbid OSU beats Texas, because all we'll here is how USC beat OSU and they should be in the conversation.

I wouldn't go that far, I may but them #2 cause I think they are the 2nd best team, but they have no claim to #1.

If OSU beats TX, the final poll will be:

1. Florida
2. Bama
3. Usc
4. Oklahoma
5. Texas

Providing Florida and Bama wins theirs.

No, but I guess what I'm saying is that the BCS was newer than it is now and it has failed us more times than when the problem occurred in 2003, so it is more susceptible to criticism right now.

2003 was the 6th year of the BCS, it was hardly new.

How has it failed us since 2003?

There were more controversies before 2003 than since. FSU over Miami in 2000, Nebraska not winning Big 12 N and getting in Rose Bowl over Oregon and Big 12 Champ/Big 12 N Champ Colorado in 2001.

It should have been more controversial in 98 (1st year) with FSU going over OSU.

If Florida wins and or Texas loses to tOSU there won't be any lasting controversy.
