They aren't removing LSU and may god have mercy on their souls for ever entertaining it.

There are many interesting things. But this is REALLY interesting. Are these schools that allowed NFL players, going to vote on kicking out LSU? South Carolina Oklahoma Texas Kentucky and Missouri. Are they going to be allowed to vote? They have former nfl players.

What players specifically signed nfl contracts from your list of schools?

might give your view more weight if it was just the two players at LSU involved, but it's not. The actual precipitating event was over 60 students suing for relief under the NCAA's own rules under 5 for 5. When the NCAA lost (or was "enjoined") then individual players started trying to recover the 5th year of eligibility they were cheated out of. The players seeking to join SEC teams were denied relief by Sankey and crew, hence the follow-on TRO that twisted Sankey into knots. By judgement, those students were entitled to seek reinstatement as athletes at the school of their choice. When those two selected LSU and were denied by the SEC, what exactly was Kiffin supposed to say? Look at it this way: if Kiffin and LSU toed the SEC line and refused to accept those players then the school and the program would then become targets of lawsuits by those players. In the end, Coach Kiffen choose to initially stand by those players and their right to seek their final 5th year of eligibility. And even then, he kept options open for future situations. He didn't roster them, didn't play them, and even said he'd follow the rules of the SEC. Eventually he filled the last two open roster spots. The thing lost in all the hullabaloo is that at every turn Kiffen and LSU followed "the rules". People are mad that they wouldn't don sackcloth and ashes and grovel for forgiveness - why should they? I expect Sankey to continue his attempted reinactment of Sherman's March out of sheer spite and vindictiveness. Who knows how it will turn out. I, for one, would hope that the other SEC schools would realize that they could be next. But they probably won't.

This is actually a very good counter argument to what might be happening. If this is what occurred hopefully we can come to a civil discussion about next steps.

When did the defining line become the signing of contracts and not when they entered the draft?

Seems like a pretty solid place to start.

My point is, it has ALWAYS been when they entered the draft.

Whether they rostered or not was irrelevant.

Once you declared early or entered at the end of eligibility, you lost the ability to play college ball.

This delineation of “signing a contract” was never a thing until now.

You don’t file lawsuits without evidence. They have evidence man. Count on it.

And you have this faith after hearing Sankey testimony, last week?

No man. I’m serious. I think this is way out of control. Lane was out of bounds. He did what he thought was right. But it wasn’t a good decision.

His heart may have been in the right place. But it was a bad decision and likely needs corrected.

He doesn’t need suspension permanently. But the SEC has to send a message.

They will send a message. Don’t fxck with us.

It will happen.

I think LSU will just let themselves be kicked out in that case. What good does a conference do you if they just threaten you and punish you, even when rules haven't actually been broken?

Are you serious? This is a “good ole boy” network and you know it. This is about power. Pure and simple. And if you’re going to ignore that with “we have not broken any rules” you’re delusional.

they should send the message they typically send when disciplining players...suspend him for the La tech and McNeese games. That's how we do things in the SEC, just trying to keep things consistent

Yep. Something that’s a blemish but nothing that hurts the team. That’s likely.

Unfortunately, at this point I fear civility has long since evaporated. This is personal for Sankey - he made a bad call, got humiliated in court and is now out for blood to quench the damage to his ego.

It's more likely that Trump and Obama will become besties than any chance of Sankey becoming "civil" enough to talk facts and seek a solution that doesn't involve the complete emasculation of LSU.

And his rage-baiting of the rest of the SEC against LSU has elevated him to edge-lord status.

This isn't going to end peacefully.

For a productive solution, these people need to want one.

A productive solution doesn't mean do exactly as Sankey says to do. The man admitted he didn't even read the 5 for 5 rule.

Being the "leader" of this conference doesn't mean that you lead by the "my way or the highway" mentality.
