I guess this has gone on long enough. There was no real application. This whole thing is a joke to sit back and watch the Aubie melt down. I would say mission accomplished

If you do not know a high quality troll when you see one then maybe you should go back and look at the original application that was never filed. Look closely in the bottom right corner and tell me what you see.

This same petition is ordered almost every other year and every other year it gets buried.

Hmmm, that certainly shoots down the talk that the only reason this was done because of what Updyke did.

Thanks for that bit of info.

Also, according to that AU player in "Roll Tide/War Eagle" the rolling of the trees started after AU upset #2 Alabama; something to do with a pun made about being #2 and taking a dump or something.

:insert flame about AU's biggest tradition being based on Alabama:

Well played. Still does not take away from what we've learned in this thread, but well played nonetheless.

What was that? That Bama fans aren't really sorry about the Toomer's Oaks? That they enjoy doing shite just to piss Auburn fans off?

I thought everyone already knew that.

That's exactly what has been shown. That the outrage of what Updyke did was actually bullshite.

Pretty much. The initial publicly acceptable level of disgust, shame, and recrimination lasted for a few months. It was never real. Once that period has passed, Bama fans went back to really not giving a damn about the Oaks.

Sorry but the majority of Bama fans just don't care. That does not mean they support what Updyke did. I think most think he is a somewhat disturbed and stupid man, but most Bama fans don't think what he did was really all that bad. It was just really really dumb, especially given his age and previous position in law enforcement. It's a stunt that you would expect from a group of drunken college kids.

Not reading 22 pages but I hope he bama fan hasn't backed out. I want the barn to win but this would be fun to see if they didn't bc either 1 this ends with a serious fight or 2. It gives us more to rip auburn on for letting bama fans do this. It looks like a win win from the outside

So you would agree that the company line being spouted a few weeks ago by Bama fans that the ESPN special was wrong because it portrayed Bama fans in a bad light was actually spot on? After all...frick it, it was only a couple trees?

I don't recall exactly what was said. If you are asserting that all Alabama fans are like Harvey Updyke, then I heartily disagree. They are not, but not giving a damn that some trees are dying is different than advocating that someone poison the trees.

Is it being portrayed in a bad light when you just don't care about something that someone else did to someone's property.

Auburn got their public act of contrition, as hollow as it was, and a fairly substantial amount of money. That was more than was owed and to expect a fanbase to continue the act after nearly a year is foolish.

So to restate my point, I, and most Alabama fans I know, don't care if the trees live or die. We don't hate Harvey. We pity him because he is mentally deficient. Alabama fans don't wear free harvey t-shirts because they care about Harvey. They wear them to piss off Auburn fans.

I think that is exactly what they are saying. Many support Updyke because they see a LOT of themselves in him.

Shove it up your arse. As you said, it was hollow and hypocritical, much like much of your fanbase.

Are you shitting me? $40k? That ain't much.

We don't want it shithead. It was a PR move to begin with and it was fricking peanuts.

We know. Many are proud of him for doing something shitty and pathetic because many of you thought it was somehow justified. Pitiful.
