So terrible.

We had 200 tornadoes hit around North Carolina in one night a few years back. Remember going out and looking at the aftermath. Just mind boggling.

Praying for all involved.

What had happened on the 27th before?

Pretty obvious you're referring to more storms, just not sure which.

***Wow 358 confirmed tornadoes 4 F5's

This may sound dumb but I've never heard you were supposed to stay on the road. Only that you're not supposed to get under an overpass and that if you can - get out of the car and lay in a ditch.
Never get under an overpass, if the tornado is close enough to affect you then the overpass becomes a debris trap and will beat the shite out of you.

The ditch, yes.

Hogsmoke- I20goon, anything around Tilly? Have a cabin there.
sorry, I lost power just after posting and have a half-retarded phone. But Tilly seems to have just gotten some rain and straight line winds. Between there and Harrison there was a tornado, but no reports of damage so it may have not touched down except in the boonies.

I assumed you were supposed to head to an overpass. What you are saying makes sense though.

Just remember seeing in movies people hiding under one.

Thank you. One loss of life is too many but this one particular system was really bad.

I'll never forget 3/1/07. That kind of feeling is hard to put into words. We only lost 2 lives, but you can still see the evidence 7 years later. Sitting in the tub, holding my wife, praying for mercy is all I think about when storms hit. God Bless Arkansas and the others that may be affected.

Stone, is The Plantation golf course still up and running?

Plantation GC closed several years ago. My last boss lived out there before he passed away, and thankfully his widow sold their house about 3 years ago and moved into LR. But by the looks of the map of the tornado path, his old house was in the bullseye. This is a storm that's going to affect Arkansans for many, many years. Very sad day.

It used to be standard advice that you were to shelter there but THEN someone with a knowledge of physics came along and said: the narrowness of that overpass actually makes the winds of the tornado worse (basically you're taking shelter in a wind tunnel). It's not just the debris that gets stuck in there but winds will actually get stronger under an overpass. Many of us grew up hearing that bad advice - no one knew better.

Today though you get off the road, outta your car, find a ditch if you can but regardless of whether you find a ditch, lay down flat on the ground even with your arms stretched out to make you as flat as possible. A tornado is less likely to pick YOU up if you're lying flat like that than it is to pick your car up which has a much higher profile.

That might be the most surreal video I've ever seen on the internet. The radio feedback at the end is especially unnerving for some reason.

Wow that was weird, didn't really know where it was and then it all of a sudden engulfed them. Obviously they had to have been alright though so that's good
