Yep, next year will be a step back. However, we signed the #1 QB in the country and hopefully he pans out for 2020 and beyond.

It doesnt seem like Lincoln really takes steps back offensively.

Oklahoma had, statistically, the most efficient offense in modern college football history.

Statistically, perhaps, and though I don't want to irritate any OU fans in this thread, I'd note that Clemson in 2016 was way harder to defend.

OU scored on EVERY possession after the first quarter. Bama couldn’t stop them once they settled in and got Rambo in the game instead of an injured Hollywood. By that time it was too late, and bama is not a team you can get behind against. OU has the personnel on defense to be top 30. That’s really all it would take to compete with Alabama.

Remember AU in 2014 will Ellis Johnson. Offensive Coaches think they can overcome the incompetency of any DC. Never works out that way.

That game was never in doubt and was never closer than 11 points or two TDS

We could have opened up the passing game instead of destroying your shite defense with smash mouth and ball control.

You guys were never in this so GTFO

Still couldn’t stop ou. Everybody expected OU to not stop bama. But OU moved the ball at will when they woke up. Y’all know it

Outsider point of view. but I think Big 12 offensive style of play has effects on recruiting.

Linebackers tend to be the cornerstone of good college defenses, and they're basically useless against a Big 12 offense.

Similarly, a great cover corner like Greedy Williams loses his impact when there's 2-3 other WRs who might approach 1000 yd seasons. You might not notice him in that conference.

Come to the SEC (pre Tua), and you face standard offenses. Defenders have a better chance of making a name for themselves, and thus getting paid. Greedy becomes a likely top 10 pick.

They recruit better on defense in the Big 12 than everyone with the possible exception of Texas and still rank in the bottom half. TCU has half the talent but outplays them on that side of the ball every year.

Roquan Smith and L. Carter were pretty big in the second half vs. them in the Rose Bowl last year.

That's one game. One high-scoring game that went into OT.

LSU similarly had a bunch of players with good stats vs Texas Tech in the Texas Bowl a couple of years ago. But when they weren't sacking Mahomes (6 sacks and 10 more pressures), he was hitting things downfield. He got 370 yds and 4 TDs. Sure, LSU won 56-27.

Tech wasn't nearly the best Big 12 team that year, either.

You play in that conference, you have a whole bunch of teams you will beat by 20-30, but they still put numbers up on offense.

You want to be noticed on defense, you sign with an SEC school. LSU, UGA, FLa, Bama, etc- they will throw insane athletes on defense, and then face teams that try to run and be balanced. 6 sacks in an SEC game that you win by 30 pts means you probably shut that opposing offense down. Do that in a Big 12 game, they still throw for 300 yds.

Not once those guys showed up. They scored one offensive TD in the second half and both OTs.

The OU fans were very vocal last night on their message boards pertaining to their defense. Many of them were bitching about the need to stop getting players out of Texas, some were complaining that their players look like they need to hit the weights more, cause Bama players looked muh bigger by comparison. So if you want their honest opinion (about their shitty defense), just read their shitty message boards

There's a reason A&M shifted their linebacker focus to Florida and Georgia.
