But it’s hard to reload in-season with the amount of LB injuries we’ve had the past few years

You lost two linebackers for 2019, one of whom has never started for you and was really an unknown as to what you'd get week to week.

Moses was the huge loss. Everything moves through the center of a defense. Alabama had true freshmen at NG and Mike. Losing your playcaller is never a good thing.

but had been in the system much longer than his freshman replacement.

Either way, defense last year was the worst under Saban.

On to 2020.

Doesn't necessarily mean he was better.

Not much worse than 2018.

Actually a lot worse in key metrics.

2009 - Greg McElroy
2015 - Jake Coker

Like Jones, all 3 stars.

It was decent though.

I seriously doubt Bama fans see the defenses they've grown accustomed to much anymore.

We will never see 2011 again. But Alabama can expect 2015-17 with the talent we sign.

It was decent statistically but failed to step up in crucial moments

They played good enough to beat Auburn.

Got marched up and down the field by LSU but LSU did that to everyone except for Auburn and still put up a ton of yards on Auburn.

Ole Miss, South Carolina, A&M, Auburn, LSU, and Michigan (in the first half) all marched up and down the field easily on us.

They did not play good enough to beat Auburn. We had the lead multiple times in the second half but the defense couldn’t get a single stop.

Alabama just wasn’t the same on defense in 2019. But a lot changes in a year. Especially with young guys growing up.

Bama has a favorable schedule, a boatload of talent and great coaching. Mac Jones will be fine at QB. I think they’d smash Clemson.
Realistically there are only about 5 or 6 teams that could win it all If the ball bounced their way and if the season is completed.

moses and mcmillon were hurt preseason. The guys that took their places had a whole year of starting experience. What happened to them in bowl game? ray only started the first couple of games. Whoever took his place should have had a great deal of experience heading into bowl game.

What happened to all those defensive recruits in the '16, '17 and '18 classes? They weren't good enough to step up and get the job done?

You didn't have to reload in season with the LB injuries. They were hurt before the season started.

What does a LB getting injured in previous years have to do with the '19 season?

That TrFr at NG. It's not like he got the start because of default. He won the job in the spring because he was better than anything bama had on the roster. Can't use him as an excuse because he was a TrFr. He was the best at the position.

Dale was injured, didn’t play. Harris played very well. Lee honestly didn’t improve much with his physical limitations

Right. They were better but there’s only so much you can do when most of your defense is true freshmen or sophomores
