They were one of Nick Saban's most talented teams.

Henry Ruggs III

Georgia fans are obsessed with Alabama. Back to back titles means less than the “we’re better than Alabama! Tell us we’re better!” inferiority complex that comes with those titles.

Let’s just say this. In the last few years Saban got away from his style of football and it was the ole square peg round hole deal. He thought he needed to evolve when he didn’t. The same things that won a hundred years ago still win today.

The 2021 team handled adversity decently well. The OL was atrocious yet pulled some wins out of their arse. How much of that was just BY and WA establishing their hero ball bonafides though? Hard to say.
What I'm talking about is this. Most years, when you got beat, you ran roughshod through most of the rest of the schedule after that.
Example: You lost to Ole Miss in 2015. Everyone started questioning you. Came into Athens an underdog and killed us. Weren't really challenged much the rest of the way. Had a tight game with UTK, but that was it.
Last two years, you've been almost as likely to play a tight game as have a blowout. And in some cases it's come from teams that aren't even that good. That's different.

I guess since you guys talk about us you're obsessed with us too? Come on man. Grow up. We're just talking football here.

And talent means you guys played like other Bama teams? Am I missing something? It was a pedestrian offense for most of the year. It was far less impressive than Bama’s past teams. Particularly on offense. Talent doesn’t = results.

That is completely on the shoulders of BoB. His play calling was terrible and he lacked any creativity.

Totally agree, a fair assessment.

Y'all sure do miss Orgeron.

@ Vanderbilt (W) 59-0
vs. Ole Miss (W) 66-3
@ Texas A&M (W) 27-19
vs. Arkansas (W) 41-9
vs. Tennessee (W) 45-7
vs. LSU (W) 24-10
@ Mississippi State (W) 31-24
vs. Mercer (W) 56-0
@ Auburn (L) 14-26
vs. #1 Clemson (W) 24-6
vs. #3 Georgia (W) 26-23 (OT)

It is almost like Tennessee fans and their esteem for General Neyland.
But it is for Ed Orgeron.
Lol

They claim Orgeron ran their program into the ground, but keep posting pictures and memes of him.

That still does not take away the fact that Ed freaking Orgeron owned UGA. I mean absolutely destroyed Georgia twice lololol
Don’t try to change the narrative.

Doesn't change the fact that Kirby Smart, our current coach, beat Kelly, your current coach two years in a row and then hung a fiddy on him for good measure in the SECCG.
But go ahead and celebrate the coach that ran your program in the ground because "that time we beat Georgia two years in a row! WOO HOO!"

Why on earth would we want to change the narrative?

Saban and Alabama fans in general are the kings of making excuses.

Ed orgeron won 1 national championship with Joe Burrow? Then got canned.
Kirby Smart won 2 national championships with Stetson Bennett (played for a 3rd with true freshman Jake Fromm). And Kirby still has the train rolling down the tracks?
Is that the narrative?
Or is this thread about Alabama? But LSU fans like to keep sucking Ed Os cock like he is General Neyland.

This thread is about Alabama
O was a bad coach and he won a title anyway because it’s LSU
Kirby is obviously a much much better one, though it’s fair to question his game management at times and him bringing in Bobo.
Anything else?

I hear you but will say this specific bit is colored by hindsight. Alabama struggled quite a bit in 2015 before finding some things in the passing game Coker could confidently execute in the last quarter of the season (but still it took a Herculean effort by Henry). They pulled away in several games on the scoreboard but they were struggles.
For a majority of 2015, Jacob Coker played worse than a true freshman. Got himself to adequate through the SEC schedule. Played the two best games of his life in the playoffs.
How different do people remember 2021 Alabama if a handful of plays in the 4th quarter of the national title goes their way like in 2015? The heroics of a rag tag group of skills players forced onto the field due to a season long injury bug that eradicated every projected contributor at tailback and receiver. Tougher ask than asking one 5th year senior to not play like dog shite, I guess.

It was pretty clear the 2021 team was a step behind where Bama has been, though credit for sucking it up and winning a couple of big games when you needed it to get into the title game. But that was probably the worst Bama team that has made it that far. It was probably worse than the 2019 team as well to be fair, which itself was the worst Bama team since 2010.
2019 was 2 losses
2020 played against cardboard cut outs and teams that were missing players every week (Bama never did)
2021 already covered
2022 2 loses again
tDecline started 4 years ago and is only going to pick up steam. Your coach is old and your coordinator hires have slipped.

Eh, we’ll see. Stack it up however you want to narrativize it. The facts are they’ve not lost more than 2 games in any season in that sample, won the conference twice, and a CFP title once. If that’s declining then a lot of schools should try out declining.
