Again, Florida has filled that role MORE than LSU.
You've played LSU many more times than UF and share a division, and there's the whole Saban part. This thing also doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Alabama and Tennessee are rivals. Alabama and auburn are rivals. LSU is a tough game every year, but they are not out rivals.
Whatever you say Champ.

Yeah, it's a rivalry.

So UF was formerly our rivals but not anymore?
How can UF be if you don't even play them every year? When is the next time UA and UF will meet?

I for one started hating them when they got back into the Top 10 back in 2005 after being terrible (started watching college football in 2001). I got infuriated at the media love they got at that time for seemingly looking so mediocre at times.
Bama was never as good back in the day as their fans make them out to be on here. It's like people pining for Ronald Reagan today. He was way overrated. As was the Bear. And Bama football in general.

If rivalry doesn't stand for " biggest game every year, most hyped games every year, game both fan bases want to win the most, game that decides winner of division most years, recruit constantly against each other for top athletes nationally"
Then I don't ever want a damn rival!!!
Then I don't ever want a damn rival!!!

I know some of my fellow Bama fans will go off on this (I don't understand why, unless it's to get under LSU fans' skin by refusing to acknowledge this game's importance).
I'm not one of them.
I believe it has surpassed the great Florida/Tennessee rivalry of the 90s.
Part of it is the demeanor of the two coaches (Miles and Saban could almost not be more different), but mostly it's because of:
Having very passionate fanbases
Basically having a great game every year
Dictating the West and SEC most years
Then the SEC Rant just amplifies it all

Some people don't understand what a rivalry is. Bama/LSU is without a doubt the biggest game in the SECW every year. That does not, by itself, make it a rivalry. There has to be hate involved.
Oh, so your definition is more "Hatfield and McCoys" based. Sports has a different definition since we're not pulling out guns trying to kill one another.
OK, but here is a more accurate definition:
quote:
A sports rivalry is intense competition between athletic teams or athletes. This pressure of competition is felt by players, coaches, and management, but is perhaps felt strongest by the fans.
So you're saying you don't feel the pressure or the intensity involved with this game.

It's the only game in NCAA football that every team will have a scout at.

Auburn is always going to be #1, and Tennessee is #2. I consider LSU #3, though lately they've been gaining more and more ground on the Viles.

Yall do know with a LSU win Les will have a 6_6 record vs. Bama.

Has been for almost a decade

Eh, our current GOAT coach making them relevant is the only reason it's now a rivalry. Before that it was not a competitive series.

-Curley Hallman
-Gerry DiNardo
-Nick Saban
-Les Miles
What do these men all have in common? They are the last five coaches at LSU and they all have won in Bryant-Denny Stadium where LSU holds an all-time winning record. It is true that Bama has dominated LSU in Tiger Stadium, but LSU has had their share of success against Bama over the last 30 years. I believe DiNardo's 27-0 blanking of Bama in Bryant-Denny is still their worst loss ever there. And even Curley Freaking Hallman won there and snapped Bama's 31-game unbeaten streak at the time. Even our losers win over there.
Post-Bear, the longest winning streak in the series has been five in a row - by LSU.
