Just wanted to give my two cents:
i grew up in tuscaloosa and still live here. never lived anywhere else....
i love this town. i love alabamians. i love southerners. i am SHOCKED at how many donations, helpers, volunteers, workers, progress etc etc etc has gone on.
pictures can't explain the devastation... neither can words. same goes for all of the help.
-wow-
ROLL TIDE. I LOVE THIS PLACE. talk to you guys in other threads... and keep donating!

Has anyone heard from RMFTBama? I think he is the only one that hasn't checked in yet. Hope everything is okay.

quote:Same can be said for the efforts being put forth in Madison and Limestone Counties. There is no us\them. It's all about "what can I do to help". In helping out in some of the hardest hit areas I've seen people wearin Tennesee, LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St., Vandy, Kentucky, Florida, Georgia shirts and hats, not just Bama and Auburn. There are church groups and Utility Crews from Arkansas and Louisiana, a Disaster Chain Saw Crew from South Carolina and countless others.

There is still so much left to be done and so many that will need assistance for a long time. Let's not forget about them as we gain more normalcy in our own lives.
To all those who have lended support in ANY way, I give a heartfelt THANK YOU.
This forum is fun to come on and pick at one another, but this last 8 days I have personally witnessed the Spirit and Character of ALL SEC Fans. I've never been more proud to be an American and an Alabamian.

Yeah I really hope so also.
I've been doing good so far. It's been a little hard because I've been stuck at work and can't really get out and volunteer except on the weekends. I wanna get out and do some manual labor to help people so it's been hard to be stuck in my office for the past week and a half.
I did help Toomers for Tuscaloosa yesterday when I got my boss to approve some donations from our store. T4T and Five Points Baptist were moving all of their donations stuff into an old grocery store and needed the power hooked up in there so I got their material list and we donated about $1000 worth of electrical materials so that they could have power to see so that they can collect and distribute their donations. I'm just thankful that I was in a position to help them.
I hope that things are going well for you also.

That is really nice of you to do that. I have donated a lot of things to a donation center here, but I want to do more. I am hoping to volunteer somewhere up in North Alabama soon. I am so amazed how everyone has come together with this tragedy. T4T has done an amazing job also! It's great to be from Alabama!!

I am hoping to volunteer somewhere up in North Alabama soon.
God Bless you and thanks for your efforts.

Yes they have.. it's amazing and yes it is great to be from here. It's heartwarming to see the communities come together in times of need and also to see the assistance folks from outside of the state have offered and continue to offer. It's going to be a long haul for alot of folks, and I'm hoping that after a few weeks, people will still be getting the help they need. Sweet of you to do all that you've done too. Everyone just doing a little here and there adds up to a ton being done. It's humbling to see the outpouring of help being given.

If folks can't get anywhere to help, but want to donate.. here's another site that you can check out to donate to. Anthony Grant has done a commercial for it, so it's legit.

At least we now know that Lance Bass is coming to "get his hands dirty".
But for real, I am just glad that people that are not from here nor live here (the state of Alabama that is) are willing to come lend a hand and help all those affected.

"Rumor: The city is concealing hundreds of unidentified bodies in a hidden, remote facility.

True or false: False The numbers vary from 100 to 600, as do the descriptions of the bodies. One variation of the rumor claims that the bodies are those of at least 100 unidentified Hispanics. Why the city would be hiding them is not clear. According to Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson, every resident in [...]"
I don't know that the rumor going around was specifying the number of bodies, but this is the one rumor that I heard multiple times from people that were on site or people who talked directly with those doing the search/recovery. It may have been a rumor, but it seems to have been spread from people directly involved in rescue operations.

Charlie Sheen shows up at a Diabetes charity event with Alabama hat on. Greg McElroy is also there and has his picture taken with him.

It was second time this week that Sheen has been seen out and about doing his bit for charity. On Monday he travelled toTuscaloosa in Alabama, that was left in ruins following a tornado that hit the state last week.

Joined by Kenly, he headed there after his show on Sunday night in Denver, after being urged by fans to lend his help to storm victims. He said: 'I wanted to see it for myself. I’m here to bring the focus of the world down. 'I’m on a bit of a recon mission and then we’re going to plan a fundraiser and come back in full force. 'I’m hopeful that I can do whatever I can to lend support, compassion and hope.

I'm with you on this one. I have heard this from 3 different Tuscaloosa police officers in different variation. Not saying it's true - and I hope that it's not - but I can't imagine the police force spreading rumors like that?? Kinda sick..
