Yeah, everything came back at once. I'm not sure about our landline. This week has sucked, but I feel the same way you do. We had it easy. I can't tell you how blessed I am. It barely missed us. Two minutes down the road, houses are destroyed. If the tornado had been coming at a harder northward angle instead of eastward, my whole neighborhood would have been gone. I am so glad you and your family are okay. Did you have to come to Athens to buy gas like everybody else?

So if you have insurance you shouldnt mind some worthless piece of shite stealing from you?

Your state farm friend in full of shite because you dont get it all back and if he is an agent he should be fired.
I think you missed what i was trying to say. Just stating that folks will get what they have back and newer if they are insured. sorry if you disagreed.

Sorry, Didnt mean to go off on you but I have a friend that just lost everything in a fire and the insurance comapny just doesnt write you a check and hand it over, you must give them a list of every item you lost and its value and if you bought a pair of jeans for $25.00 you dont get $25.00....the will pro-rate its value. This was eye opening for me because I thought if you were insured for $40,000 on content of your home that is what they would give you but that is not the case.

Hey guys and gals. I hope that everyone had as best of a weekend as they could.

We went out Saturday to the Brookwood and Peterson area but the National guard was there and wouldn't let you down any roads if you didn't live there. We ended up at Eagles Cove Marina and helped some people there clear a path to the boat docks and then threw all the log and limbs in the water between the docks and the shore and put some of the dock floats on top so that they would have a way to walk across to their boats. Lots of damage down there, also a lot of 100,000 boats just sitting under water. After that we really didn't get to help many people out as they already had help or just really didn't know what they wanted you to do.

My sister in law was helping with our church group in the Brunos parking lot on McFarland. They were cooking hotdogs and hamburgers and making sack lunches for people. They had enough stuff to make a little over 400 meals but when it was all said and done, they gave out over 3,000. They said everytime they got low on meat and stuff, random people would drive up and just unload tons of meat, chips, etc.

Yesterday, my gf and I went to Five Points Baptist Church in Northport as I have lots of friends over there and we helped out with the donations stuff loading them up so they could get them out to the affected areas. A buddy of mine came in and saw us and got us to go with them out to the Holt / Crescent Ridge Rd area where we met up with all my friends. We split up into 3 groups and went to a couple places. We helped some people for about 5 hours cut a tree and haul off limbs, storage house, and do a lot of debris cleanup.

I am also involved in a church ministry group called O2 Ministries here in town and my buddy is the founder of it and has some contacts with booking agents. He was telling me yesterday that he has gotten word through his contact that artists like Shania Twain, Taylor Swift, and Kix Brooks (Brooks n Dunn) are wanting to do benefit concerts in Tuscaloosa. He's been in contact with the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and they said that if they are for real then we'll all get together get these concerts planned to raise money for the tornado victims, cleanup, etc. I'm excited to see where this goes and hopefully this will happen.

I'm back at work this morning and we just got a truck load of wire and cable and I know that we are also expecting (16) generators, (50) 30 Amp generator plugs, and (20) 20 Amp generator plugs at some point this morning.

This is my update from the weekend. I shot some more video this weekend from the Brookwood area, and also from the Holt area that I am going to try and put together and share on here.

Continue to do what you can to help out everyone affected by this disaster and continue to come together as a state, a community, and as a people together to help those in need. This town is torn up really bad. Areas that I have been to for most of my whole life are so unrecognizable that it'll make you cry.

Thanks for everyone's prayers and keep up the good work that you are doing and that you've already done.

I work in the insurance field and specificly we consult to a large portion of insurers on personal property evaulation.

While you are somewhat correct, it is all dependent on your specific policy. If anybody has any questions feel free to ask. Yes, you do have to create an inventory. Just because your policy is for a certain amount, doesnt mean they will write you a check for that amount. as far as, "pro-rate" or as it is called ACV(Actual Cash Value) that is dependent on your policy. If you have signed an ACV policy or replacement cost. A majority of companies and insureds sign Replacement these days. However, some people try to save some dollars and sign an ACV

We took some supplies up to Russellville (which is okay, more of a 'drop off') and then back down to Phil Campbell.

Phil Campbell truly does look a like a bomb went off.According to the Census, 1094 was the number for the population there. 29 were killed. It took around 30 minutes to get in and out of there. National Guard is there directing traffic and a wide variety of various utility trucks are as well. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) had a tent in front of PCUMC where we dropped off supplies. The devastation was just unbelievable.

Oh yeah my dad told me that the owner of the only undamaged business in Smithville locked his doors because he said he had no power to run a cash register. I think that people are about ready to run him out of town.

We had store owners around here accepting cash and checks while keeping track of sales on paper. One gas station owner used a hand pump to get gas out of his tanks. They will be remembered.

59,

A guy I coach with has a lot of family in the Phil Campbell/Hackleburg area. They all made it out safely, but everything is destroyed.

I hate to get in a pissing contest here, but the pictures from that area do look different. There are a few houses here that made it thru. Looking at his pictures and the aerial pictures it looks like someone took a pitching wedge to a dandelion.

I was with one guy this weekend that was disappointed the Tuscaloosa tornado wasn't an EF-5. I just shook my head and went about my business.

I think the point is there are a few backwater towns that aren't getting the high profile support. I-59 might have heard the same Hackleburg resident on the radio early Sunday morning.

I agree it doesn't really matter. F4 tornadoes (winds from 166 to 200 mph) can easily reduce well built homes and businesses to piles of rubble.

Having said that, I am confused by the wording the NWS uses. They say they've finalized it at a high end EF4 yet in the same release they say they still have to evaluate areas of the damage path to see if it needs to be upgraded. Regardless, a high mile wide swath of high end EF4 damage speaks for itself.

She was such a beautiful girl! so sad....;-(

BTW, what's the deal with the crazy rumors the last few days of much higher fatality numbers than what are being reported? I keep reading about this yet the Tuscaloosa death toll has been at 39 for a couple of days. Are the numbers being under reported or are the rumors the typical overexaggerated death tolls you often get during major natural disasters.

Also what's the word about the actual number of missing in Tuscaloosa at this point? It seems to jump all over the place. It was over 500 and the latest I heard was 373. It still seems to be very chaotic.

Like on the news a few mins ago they said still at least 400+ missing in Tuscaloosa. So.....I think at this point they still really can't tell. A friend of mine that lives there said she was in a hall closet with her husband and 2 kids praying out loud god please keep us safe.....she said their house had minimal damage but just a few blocks down it was totally devastation..so sad...She said, they still cant get in touch with some of their friends and families. ...Her family lives here in ms.

Again..prayers sent to everyone....
